Do you guys have an opinion on what you’d rather choose. A chisel point or cut on contact broadhead??

I’m switching to a two blade this year. I haven’t landed on one yet, but I’m leaning towards the Rage. However the NAP is in close 2nd.

    Chisel Point

    NAP

I have shot chisel points before, and cant say they are any better than cut on contact. I think shot placement is key no matter what. Myself still shooting rage two blade with cut on contact!

    Cut on contact vs. Chisel

Shooting whitetail at 20-30 yards I Don’t think you will see much of a difference. Unless you are shooting a very slow bow. Cut on contact will always be more effective at slicing the hide and getting thru. (Hands down)
This is what I think the major difference is between these two.

Rage has an o-ring while the NAP doesn’t

I have used the rage 3 blade and 2 blade. I have killed with them both. They have worked just fine for me with no problems what so ever. (turkeys and deer)

With that said you do need to pay attention to the o-ring and make sure that the blades are sitting on them right. They are not a very good spot and stock broadhead. Any time I pull one of them out of the quiver I check it and recheck. For ground blind or tree stand hunting they work great! Just make sure to check them even if they look fine triple check.

The Nap product I have looked at at the bow shop and this broadhead seems like it might stay together(the blades) better with they set-up they are using. I think the attention you would have to pay on them coming out of the quiver would be less. They have a firm hold and seem to keep it very well. From just looking at this broadhead that is what i get from it.

As far as which one i would choose…..I would give the Nap one a shot and that is only because it looks like less maintenance out of the quiver.

I think I’m going to be buying a package of the NAP and the Rage for this fall. It sucks the only way to truly test a broadhead for me it is to hunt with it. I guess I’ll try to get a couple does during the early season to compare. I’m leaning towards the cut on contact for both blades.

Doesn’t matter shoot what your bow shoots the best and put it through his heart or lungs and hes dead. I know a muzzy will go through a shoulder blade if it has to. not sure about a cut on contact but i’m guessing anything inside 20 its still going through. it’s all about putting it where it needs to be.

I like the cut on contact.I have shot the G5 Montecs over the last several years and love them.I have used the same arrow the last 3 years,it has killed 2 elk,1 moose and 1 whitetail, all pass throughs the farthest shot being 27 yards on one of the elk. I do have 3 pckgs of Rage 3 blades but only use them on deer, I am hesitant to try on elk, and unless something goes wrong with the Montecs I am sure I never will. As stated above shot placement is the key to the success of any broadhead.

Will a 50-60lb bow work with a mechanical broad head like the NAP or Rage ?

There will be not shots past 30 yards

Take your pick on the broadheads, mechanical or fixed blades will work with the poundage you have mentioned. As stated in the above posts shot placement is the key with any broadhead.

I would recommend the Rage 40KE. They are 1 1/2 diameter with a much less aggressive blade angle for better penetration on the deer. Keep the shot in the ribs for a double lung and you should be just fine. Good luck.

I shoot a PSE Stinger rated 55-70 set at 59#’s…I primarily shoot Rage 2 Blade and have never had a problem. If you have that 50-60 bow set at even 55#’s, I’d stay with the standard Rage Blades. Minimum bow # is 35/40. That’s what the 40KE Rage was designed for. It’s not that the 40KE won’t work, but I think you’d be running the risk of the blades opening before impact if you shot the 40’s. FPS has to be considered in this decision. If your pushing 300 FPS, no way would I use the 40KE’s….. If in doubt yet, call the Rage folks….

    just my .05$ worth….
