Debate on new arrows…

I’m looking at changing to new arrows this year. I am looking at the carbon express arrows (I think). I’m thinking either the pile drivers or the mayhem arrows.

Has anyone had a chance to shoot the pile driver arrows?? Does the extra weight actually help with penetration. I guess I don’t really have any issues now whith arrow penetration but it’s any interesting concept.

I’ve heard a lot of people like the mayhems. There’s just too many options out there. I would definatly want something with blazer vanes.

    Any input is appreciated.

I had the mayhems in my hand today..put them back because I’m not so sure that they’re that much greater than the Carb Express’ I have now..I would be interested in hearing others too.

For a hunting arrow i really dont think there is a real difference in any carbon arrows made today. I own bemans, carbon express and the easton axis and they all shoot pretty much the same.

Don’t overlook eastons. They are the one tough hard hitting arrow

I tend to agree with you. They are almost all made to such small tolerances it’s tough to differentiate one from another when you are paying in the same price point. If you can find a place to let you shoot many different ones, you might find one that is better for your bow than another.

I just stopped at fleet farm and they had some pile drivers on clearance for $38 bucks for a half dozen. Can’t really complain about that. I’m going to give them a try.

I think that arrows do vary allot. I myself am a Carbon Express guy, and always will be!! You have to break down each feature the arrows has to understand what makes one better than another in my eyes. To break down a few of the features and what they do would be…..

Dual Spine Weight Forward = rapid recovery today’s bows are fast!! Meaning allot of arrow flex upon the shot. The dual spine and weight forward helps the arrow recover from that flex faster and allows the arrow to start to spin sooner and leads to better accuracy.

Diamond Weave = The weave is what helps make each arrows spine consistent if your arrows spines are all consistent the more consistent your groups will be.

BuffTuff Plus carbon weave = Is a easy one in my eyes makes them STRONG!!! Last years bow season I used the same Carbon Express arrow on all four deer I shot, yardage ranging from 10 yards to 55 not once did a arrow break or not pass threw.

BullDog nock collar = Saves on arrows when you have knock end impacts.

Them are just a few things that have sold me on CX arrows. Hope it helps you a little bit.

Just curious, have you noticed a difference between other arrows that are not “Dual Spined Weight Forward”??

I have noticed a couple things with them I do believe that they to recover from flexing sooner leading to tighter groups. I also honestly think that having that little bit of extra weight forward lets the arrows carry a little more kinetic energy upon impact. Them are my honest thoughts I use to have a layered target that wouldn’t hardly move when it was shot with my old arrows, made the switch upon impact with newer arrows with weight forward the arrows sank deeper into the target and would move the target.

I also think they are allot stronger, every deer I shot with a bow last year was with the same arrow and I plan to use it this year till it breaks. I’m by know means easy on my arrows and couldn’t be more happy.
