Eliminating Bow Torque??

Is it possible to remove torque from a bow by the way you set it up? Or is a given amount of torque manufactured into a bow by its given design and you can only add torque to it by your shooting technique?

I overheard a couple of target shooters discussing bow torque at a recent 300 round tournament. One shooter said that “He removed all the torque from his bow by moving his rest all the way out”. He is a right hand shooter, so he moved his rest all the way to the left.

I can’t say I have ever heard of anything like that…I thought most bow torque is from how the bow is held?? I guess I have never had any problems with bow torque to where I have looked into it more.

I guess I’ve never heard of being able to remove bow torque either. I always shoot using a cotton gardening glove which lessens the possibility of torque, but that’s all that I’ve ever done.

The glove is key for my accuracy to stay consistent by taking the torque out of my grip. Other than that I haven’t heard of anything but I bet schaffer’s would know.

Whoever said that moving your rest out will eliminate bow torque is full of it. Bow torque comes from gripping the bow wrong. The best way to eliminate it is to learn how to correctly grip the bow, shoot the right draw length and use a grip that helps eliminate torque like the Mathews Focus grip

Torque comes from holding the bow incorrectly. PSE designed a Slimgrip a few years ago to eliminate this. I don’t really mind these grips because but some people do Try to hold the bow with your hand in a 45 degree angle so it’s resting in the web of your hand between your index finger and your thumb. When you are testing new bows, a bow that will fit you well should almost instinctively go to this position

I was kind of thinking this is what causes it.

Thanks guys, I didn’t think it was posible to remove torque from a bow. Trust me, I know how to add torque to it. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
    Thanks again.
