Need Some Release Suggestions

Up until 2 years ago, I have been a fingers shooter. My first Mathews Conquest had a nice axle to axle length for shooting fingers – next Mathews was a Legacy and I started shooting fingers with it for a couple of years and then converted to a release – it was a Winn’s Free Flight glove style release that shot wonderfully but is not very fast to get on the loop, and creates problems when trying to keep your hands warm in late season.

I am looking for everyone’s expertise on what my next release should be. I am shooting a 29″ 70 lb. Mathews Z7 Extreme. I tried a T handle style release with a thumb trigger and I flinch bad with it because of arthritis in my thumb joint – I can’t possibly pull off a smooth shot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I have shot several different styles of releases and my favorite is scott archery Little bitty goose NCS release, the mechanical part is attatched by fabric to the wrist band and it has a hair trigger so the flinch shots dont happen to offten.

I shot a free flight two years ago and switched because of the same problem. Plus, it was hard to climb a tree with the release always sitting in the palm of your hand. If you want to try and stay at the same draw length, I would consider any of them with the shorter trigger to connections. Spot hogg wiseguy, TRU ball beast, and there are a few to choose from Scott. All are great releases. I would suggest getting one with buckles rather than velro….my 2 cents

My archery shop let me try out any I wanted befor buying a new one after I lost mine this fall. I would try a bunch and find what feels right for you. I shoot a true ball boss x and it works awesome for me. If you are wanting some thing fast to get on the loop it doesn’t get any faster. When you get in the tree just clip it on and it stays atached to your bow instead of you then when its needed you pick up the bow and grab the release and your ready to go no trying to connect your release to your bow.

I bought a new release 2 years ago and after my research, i went with the Carter Quickie 2+ I am 100% satisfied with it and i have been told by so many people that “You get for what you pay” My release as $120 but the spring is still crisp I would try a Spott Hogg (i forget which model) but it has a purple head and a longer shaft. It runs about $100 but with releases this pricey, they last many years instead of 3-5 like the $50-75 releases. This is just from my personal experience, but let us know what you end up with

I have the Tru-Fire Edge Foldback and like it a lot. The fold back feature allows me to fold it back to wear a glove if needed. Being able to fold it back allows a lot more flexibility IMO. It is nice to get it out of the way and be able to move around without it being in the way. It is by far not the most expensive release out there, but for me it gets the job done…I can wear gloves when it is cold out, and it is super quick to get on the string.

I use a Free-Flight also. I have found that a pair of finger gloves, with the flip over mitt work great with the release. If you have to, get a X-Large size for really cold weather. You put it on over the glove, then flip the glove top closed If it;s really cold, a small Heat pack fits in your palm under the Wynns glove real nice I love the Free Flight, it’s all I have used for the last 12 years I never climb a tree with the release on, but will a ladder stand
