Grim Reaper problems

I bought the 2″ 3 blade Grim Reapers about 2 weeks ago b/c i wanted to try a different broad head this year. I am dialed out to 60 yards but have only shot the practice head out to 50. I am perfect w/ the practice head at 20 and 30 yards but at 40 and 50 im shooting left

At first i thought it was hand torque, peaking, etc. After shooting for about 3-4 days without adjusting my sight i have noticed no improvement, still shooting left Tonight, i tried shooting the Rage 2 and 3 blade practice heads….dead on at 40 and 50 w/ a little difference by no more than 2 inches.

Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking that for certain stands 30 yards and under i would use the Grim Reapers and for those 40+ i would use a different head ….

I would go with the 1 broadhead that flies the best at all distances. So that would mean scrapping the Grim Reapers. Just my .02

No idea as to the problem or cure, have you shot the actual head or just the practice one? Do they all do it? How’d they spin test? Grim Reaper has great customer service, I would call and explain the situation and see what they think…They will probably send you a new package and see how they work. They can be reached at 801-377-6199; Toll-free: 877-GRIM-REAPER (877-474-6732).

I switched to them last winter and have put down 5 gobblers and a bear this year…..no flight problems or any problems for that matter….been flawless killers.

1 question and don’t take this the wrong way..why would you switch broadheads 2 weeks before season? Were you experiencing the same problem with another brand?

Anyway, they have made a home in my quiver…..bring on the deer
I hope you get it figured out

I have not shot the actual head just the practice head. I even switched arrows to see if that could be the problem but still the same

I didn’t really “switch” BH’s. I have witnessed some great testimonies and seen the damage these heads do first hand after friends have shot game with them. I know the 3 blade 1 3/8″ cut shoot just like field tips and according to the package the 2″ 3 blade “fly like field tips guaranteed”

My go to BH for the last 8 years has been the Snypers and i have plenty of those in case these heads don’t work out. If the GR don’t work for me ill just stick to the Snypers and see what i can change to get the GR to fly perfect by turkey season

BTW thanks for the phone # ill give them a call

I had the same problems with Grim Reaper this year. They were hitting left 50 and further and they had a noticable plane. I switched back to Rage 2 blades now.

That’s what I would do. Probably only need to move it 1/32 to 1/16″. Tune to the broadhead you are shooting.

Yes,you should always broadhead tune your bow.

Dennis is correct…Choose the broadhead you want and “micro tune” to accomodate the flight differences. You selected them for their “killing” qualities. Start with a small move right with your rest, which will not even show up at closer yardages.
Also realize at 60yds the KE of your arrow is less than 1/2 of what it was when you released it out of the bow…

    This post is right on!

I’ll add you should spin each broadhead on your arrow, taking that out of the equation is easy! Once done, group tune your broadhead and field points, you should get both to hit dead on….

p.s. not a plug for him just a good deal for fellow hunters.
