I’m new here and have been reading threads for a few days. Looks like a great site and nice bunch of folks. I was just wondering if there are any traditional shooters here. I’ve been bow hunting since 1975 and love every minute of it. I have a compound that hasn’t been out of the case in about 10 years. I started with a recurve, went to a compound for a few years, and went back to the recurve. Any bowhunting is fun, but I get a special thrill from stick bows.

I have been meaning to say this but WELCOME to IN DEPTH OUTDOORS!

We have a few traditional archers here. Some pop in around season others lurk, but I know we have a few and always looking for more! If you have any questions on the site feel free to shoot me a PM (Private Message). I hope you enjoy your time here!

One of our Field Producers (Camera Man) is a traditional guy! Little G is is name on the site and this was his 2009 WI buck!.

My whole family shoots traditional (wife, both sons and myself) we love it.
I just picked up a (new to me) Bear Grizzly to play with.
We plan on making our own arrows this summer.

I am all traditional. I put down the wheels after shooting several deer. Have definatly found it to be very challenging and even get the urge to get the wheels again but that’s the fun in it. Since the switch it has been a year round challenge. From making my own bows and arrows in the off season to stump shooting looking for sheds I have found it very rewarding.I wish that others would consider the switch it has definatly made a better hunter.

The Bear Grizzly has been my “Medicine Bow” since 1975. I bought a 55# at a yard sale for $12, and last year I took my 130th deer with it. Now I have retired it and started shooting a left handed Ben Pearson my wife gave me. (Although I’m left eyed, I have been shooting right handed all these years!) I have a Bear Grizzly compound, too, but I rarely shoot it anymore.

Yup Rapids Archery Club is in Coon Rapids off of Hanson and 133rd Ave. Right by the New Sheriff’s Building and in Bunker Hills park. http://www.rapidsarchery.org

    Welcome…
A shoulder injury took my Trad bows away a few years ago. I still love the Black Widow recurves and longbows though.

Welcome Bluesgtr I shoot traditional and have a lot of fun doing it. I also use a Fred Bear grizzly that my brother picked up at a garage sale for $5 for me. I used to use a compound but needed to challenge myself a little more and ended up this year with a pope and young very proud of that.
