Watched a lady come and register a non-typical buck that was still in velvet. It had twenty points with double drop tines one of the more magnificent bucks i have ever seen. I just couldn’t believe it was still in velvet this late it was bleeding all over so starting to shed it a bit. Anyone else seen this. And props to the lady that put this buck down last night with her bow!!!

Rob says you were also hurt in the “man” zone. I don’t really care to know how he knows.

Would like to see pics of this. Considering most horns are pretty well polished by now.

typically those deer are does. They have abnormal levels of testosterone which makes them grow antlers. Kinda like seeing a woman with biceps and a mustache

We seen a perfect 8 pointer at Ripley, mid Oct in full velvet. Definitely weird…

Maybe its the exact opposite. This buck maybe didnt have a high level of testosterone which made him not in the mood to rub his velvet off. Just a thought

Gut – I dont know you personally yet, but you sure get picked on a lot. For now, I will just assume its the group of people you choose to hang out with .

    Cool buck also.

There seems to be a “buck” or two every year over tha last few years that come in like this. As I recall, each time they have been does with abnormally high levels of testosterone.

Is it likely a side affect of inbreeding?

If you’re talking about my nieces deer, no beans and frank! Although my brother gutted it so I’m not 100% sure.

Some pretty good razzin going on in this one. You fellas crack me up.
Crazy looking rack on “him” that’s for sure. I had trail cam pics last season of a 3 point that was still in velvet in January. “He” actually shed his rack while it was still in full velvet. I had high hopes of pickin up his fuzzy little set but never was able to find em’

I know of another guy that shot a velvet buck just lately and that was my same question. I wonder even if they did have them if they were functional.

Sorry, been off the map lately. I shot a 9pt in velvet on Thanksgiving some years back. It weighed 195 lbs and was missing it’s ball bearings . It’s hanging at Mouldy’s in Eau Claire for now. I’ll get some pics and post them. It was a buck but it looks like a doe and was running with the ladies too.
