another friend…Gary… that lurks here who didn’t think his buck was “worthy” of posting here… HECK NO!
Many of us live/hunt in areas where this young buck is about all you see. Any deer taken with a bow is a job well done in my eyes.
Nice job Gary!
(even with that funny looking camless bow) ….just kidding ya!
October 22, 2009 at 7:26 pm #64333Gary, nice job ….. I always say “anybody can shoot a big one” no deer taken with a bow, is not a trophy in my opinion Now quit lurking and sign up
October 22, 2009 at 8:17 pm #64379Nice buck!
I sure would like to read a story on the buck.
Looks like he put a great hit on that buck! Not everyone gets to shoot big inch bucks. For this site its about enjoying hunting and some good stories. (At least thats what I would like to think)
Lately there hasn’t been to many members that have been putting the smack down. So whats the story to this guy!
October 22, 2009 at 9:00 pm #64391Thanks for the encouragement guys…here is the story (from Georgia)
Out the stand early morning in a drizzling rain. Still drizzling as an 8 point walks out silently at 12 yards to my left. My bow is in a holder and I am sitting down. I make it to my feet and get my bow in hand to have him at 25 yards and facing directly away. It is only about 20 minutes after shooting light on a cloudy rainy morning, so you can imagine that it was not as light as it normally would be. The Lord smiled upon me as this deer turned and walked back through one of my lanes at 20 yards. I sent a Spitfire just behind the shouler (I thought) and I knew I hit, as these broadheads make a distinct sound when the blades open(NAP Spitfire). The deer ran off and I saw it run into the woods about 60 yards from where it was hit.Now the rain starts to fall good and not being exactly sure of the shot, I made sure to give it the standard 30 minutes. Due to the rain, there was no blood trail. Every now and then I would see a spot of blood on a blade of grass as I walked the trail the deer ran on until it hit the woods. Next I found my arrow (in two pieces) laying on the ground. I walked into the woods where I last saw the deer and I could see it’s white belly shining in the woods. The deer ran about 100 yards. the Spitfire entered right at the crease of the left shoulder midways up and exited a little further back on the right side. He weighed in at 145 pounds.
I had not heard the first shot by the time I shot. I actually did not hear the first report of a gun until at least 10 minutes after I shot. I bet a lot of hunters stayed in the rack because of the rain this morning. Boy, did the weatherman miss the ball today. Again, I can say that I love bowhunting during gun season.
October 22, 2009 at 10:20 pm #64406It doesn’t matter what size of rack a deer has, their all a decent deer and their all nice to look at on the site here. Don’t let the size of some of the deer you see intimidate ones self, I don’t. Were interested in the whole story, the deer and hunt and thats what its all about, its hunting season and if its a deer taken by a guy who wanted to shoot it then thats enough and we want to hear about it.

October 23, 2009 at 3:49 am #64458Congrats and thanks for sharing! I do like the simplicity of those Monster bows. Tom do you still feel the same about your new bow? Just curious as next year is my year to upgrade.
October 23, 2009 at 4:50 am #64467That’s awesome! Congrats on getting it done with stick and string during gun season. What kind of bow is he shooting?
October 23, 2009 at 1:15 pm #64488Those are the new Monster bows. Tom Gursky, the writer of this thread sells them. From what hes told me they are a super bow and let off is unbelievable and very smooth.
