Archery Question

Okay, early on I was deciding on which to choose from, Mathews or Hoyt. I have now narrowed it down to a used Mathews DXT. My question is this. Since the bow is used, is it common to try an talk down the price? I figured since our economy is still struggling, archery shops are as well. What does everyone think? Also is it a good decision to purchase a bow where there is no warranty or should I purchase a new one with lifetime warranty? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

What are they asking ? Is it loaded, or just the bow ? I would guess that just the bow should be somewhere around $400-$500, depending on shape. Also, there are lots of deals to be had at places like craigslist I wouldn’t wait too long though…. a little less than a month and the prices go up… have fun shopping

If it has accessories on they should be asking around $550. Either way I would try getting them down no matter what they are asking. Make sure you look over the string and cables good.

They are asking $650 with nothing on it. The string seems to be in decent shape as well.

If its used, it better be reduced in price I am not sure if there are companies that have LIFETIME warranty, but they do cover things that are not the customers fault such as a twisted limb, strings and cables shred for unexplained reasons, etc.
For example, i have a G5 Quest and when the bow was being put together at the factory someone put the string backwards through the cable slide so the string was rubbing against the other string and caused it to separate
Since i had the bow for less than a year, it was under warranty and i got custom strings from Vapor Trail Blue and lime green
However in your case, since you are buying a bow used i doubt you are going to be able to get any warranty from it

Gobbler…what is your draw length? I have a DXT that I would be willing to sell you for $550. I will even throw in a brand new set of Gamehide hunting clothing if it works out. Either way you should be able to get that bow for around $550. It doesn’t hurt to offer that to the bow shop and see what they say.
