January 11, 2008 at 9:50 pm #642359Run !!! Do not walk, to your nearest Fleet Farm…. I dragged my feet last year when Fleet put them on sale… and missed out Fortunately, I found one at another smaller fleet store, the floor model, and I am pretty sure it was the last one in St. CLoud, when I got it

January 11, 2008 at 10:43 pm #642383I’m pretty confident to tell you normally when ice fishing stuff is on sale, that’s the last they are getting in, and 2 man flip over shack sell fast, especially when they are on sale, I wouldn’t think about it too much if you really want one.
tharmsenPosts: 23January 13, 2008 at 3:44 am #642672wow that was fun….went to gander mountain and showed them the fleet flyer forthe x2 at 549.00 and they hit a couple buttons and out the door I was with one fo 549.00…that rocked
tharmsenPosts: 23January 17, 2008 at 1:16 pm #644372There are still a few Fleet Farms in WI that have them for $549. I am certain that they have them in Fond Du Lac and Green Bay, but I’m not sure about the other stores on the East side of the state.
buck-slayerPosts: 1499January 17, 2008 at 4:53 pm #644494I just bought one this week. My plan is to put it together this weekend. Are there any secrets anyone can share that will make it easier and how long is it going to take. My guess is it will be more fun to put together than the kids Christmas toys.
January 17, 2008 at 5:09 pm #644508I just put an X together a couple weeks ago. I did it on a Friday night in the garage with a six pack. I thought the instructions were vastly improved from the past. Most everything is pre-drilled, so it’s almost idiot proof. Meaning, if I can do this in a couple hours watching TV and sipping beers, anyone can.

If you plan on putting the hyfax runners on I would definitely put them on before doing anything else.
Use a heat gun or a hair dryer to help bend the runners on
the front end of the sled, especially if working outside. And like Kooty said you’ll need a six pack!!
les_welchPosts: 1007May 19, 2009 at 7:31 pm #196823After shooting multiple 2nd, third, and fourth place finishes, we ran the table on Saturday. We actually shot over 7 times the amount of fish the second place team did, and took big fish honors to boot.
We’ve shot more poundage in the past, but we worked hard for what we got, in very brutal conditions.
We left my house at 3:30 am, and had the boat launced at 5:00. We would have to be loaded and driving by 2:15 to make the 4:00 pm weigh in.
As we arrived to our previous days scouted area, we were greeted with high winds, clouds, and COLD temps, everything carp killers hate. As we idled along, we spotted a few fish working, which with water temps at 55 degrees, was hard to believe. The day before this water was at 67 degrees, it was enough to get them going, and once started, they don’t stop.
Problem with this spot, it was only about 300 yards long, and it was shallow. For tournaments, it is best to have both shooters on the front platform, and to have extra bows ready. With the shallow water, we could only have one persons weight on the front, so the other guy ended up push poling the entire time, because we still couldn’t use the electric motor, too shallow.
We put around a dozen carp in the barrel on the first push through. After that they started getting skittish, and we would get between 2-6 a float. Around noon, the water was starting to warm a little (59 degrees), and it showed as a few fish were starting to cruise to the shallows. We ended up getting between 4-8 on the last 6 or so passes. As 2:00 rolled around, it was time to go. Boat was loaded, the diesel was whistling, and we pulled in at 3:57, with 3 minutes to spare. Listening to talk around the clubhouse, it definitely wasn’t a good day for shooting fish. However we know these guys, and someone else was sure to have found the fish. Weigh in started, and as each team went by, we started getting more confident. We weighed in and had the lead with 3 teams to go. Two of those teams blanked, and the third didn’t have enough. Finally we got it done. We donated our first place check back to the club, as these are fundraising shoots to help out the archery clubs. Made for a long, but very satisfying day!
