Has anyone had or tried a bow with the new Mathews Dead End String Stop yet?

Any opinions formed on them yet?

Or does anyone have a similar device on a different type of bow? Are they worth getting and what effects does it have to speed, etc.?

    Thanks in advance!

I have one on my Monster. I shot it one time without it and it smacked my wrist so I got one. I don’t think it effects the speed. Personally if I had a bow with a 8″ brace height or more I don’t think I would have one.

    Hey Lip,

I don’t have a Mathews but I’ve got the string stopper on my Bowtech and I think it’s a nice improvement that bow manufactures are putting out there. It stops the string so it can’t oscillate and hit your arm or make noise. I’m not sure what it does for the speed since mine can’t be removed to test the difference but I’m assuming it would speed it up at least some.

My fiance’ was having problems with hitting her arm last fall but that was a different bow than what she has now and her draw length was too long. (Her string hit her arm on 2 different bucks so she ended up missing!) She wants me to put an STS on her bow this year just in case. Can’t hurt, right?

    Rob,
I bought an STS for my Mission last year. It really does wonders in quieting your bow down, won’t really affect your speed much if at all. A lot of guys are using them to prevent the string from contacting their arm, but I believe that it may be more of a torquing problem on there part. I had my old bow chronode before and after and gained no speed at all. My new Alphamax has a factory string suppressor already installed, becoming really popular on the newer models.

i also had the STS before i sold it on my older bow. I really liked it. Like brian said, it prevented wrist slap and really suppressed noise and vibration!! I would recommend one for any bow that doesn’t come with a stocked string suppressor

Thanks for the feed back guys. You guys made my mind up for me.

I will be putting one on this week or next @ Schaffers when I get my new drop away Schaffers rest.

Lip just a note. When I took my Switchback XT into Shaffer’s for the tune up and work they took my STS off my bow and said it hurt the performance. You might want to run it by them first and see what they say.

IMO, string suppressors don’t hinder a bows performance one bit, if anything they help it. While they have little to no effect at all on the speed of your bow they will help with the forgiveness and the noice.

They stop your string from ociliating which in turn causes your arrow to be released from the string ealrier. This gives the shooter more forgiveness since the arrow leaves the string faster and can’t be affected as much by torquing your wrist or dropping your arm. They also reduce shock and makes the bow quiter. Although the forgiveness may be a small increase, anything will help when that moment of truth comes.

This is just my opinion and what i’ve noticed with them. I have one on my general and my dxt and will put one on the rest of my bows. I love them

I’ve read and heard all of that too Dan. I liked mine also. I still might have it put back on but I figured I’d try it being they suggested it. It seems to be working great and my bow isn’t any louder or less forgiving. I shoot spots with my bow and 3D also and I’m still as accurate. But time will tell.

    Hey Guys,
I just purchased a dead end and put it on My Reezen and
all I can say is that it’s a great product. Does wonders for stopping vibration and supposedly improves your shooting so you get tighter groups. I find it hard to believe that someone would say that it hurts the bows
performance when almost every manufacturer is offering
    one.
