Man that is nice. Just as I am going to be needing a new one for next year.

Those 2 monster bows are going tobe some hard shooters. Especially the one they have yet to release the pic on. With a 5″ brace height it will take the best of shooters to handle that one!! Won’t be very forgiving to say the least!

They did make a few 2 cam bows and the Reezen (single cam with 6.5″ to 7″ brace height))is @ 340 FPS. But like mentioned earlier to tweak this utra fast speed other things must be compromised and I have HEARD RUMORS the Reezen is not as smooth, forgiving and is itching to fire when you have it drawn back. Things I rather have in a bow and lose a few FPS. Forgiviness and smothenes are two things I need. If I step up right now for a new one this year it would be the S2. But, I’m looking forward to giving this new line up a try for myself and then making my opinion.!

They look great. I have never owned a two cam bow so I was wondering does a two cam bow need the string tuned more then a solo cam. I would think the solo cam would because the string is longer but I am not sure. Also whatever happened with the cam and a half that other companies were making.

I still have my eye set on the Switchback. The guys I hunt with love them….I told the GF the other day that it would be the first thing I bought when I graduated college. She gave me the look that said “That better not be the first thing you buy”

Dumb question how many different Mathews Switchback’s are there and which one is the original Switchback, what are the differences?

Technically, I think there are 4 Switchbacks. The original Switchback, The Switchback XT, The Switchback LD and the S2. Each one there are minor tweaks to each, but mainly the same design. I do not think they make all of these yet.

I’d love to have the new HyperLite myself…. but I love my Swithback XT too much. Although after I shoot one I might change my mind.

I am looking for a 26-27″ 40-50lb or 50-60lb Switchback XT if anyone knows where I might find one? I have been on ebay but stopped my quest at $600 as I am not interested in most or any of the accessories. Also would consider a Drenalin or DXT if the price is right. The Mrs. is do for a good Xmas present Please keep me in mind…

    Thanks

Sure, If you help me pay for my Ranger. I think Im stuck with it for a while now. This was my year to trade for a 620 and thats not going to happen!

Well I think the present is purchased. I found a barely used DXT 27/50-60 loaded for $675. Not sure about the rest on it but we will see how she likes it and go from there.

Well $675… After a dozen CX Maximas, a trophy taker, and a Scott Sabertooth, some more vanes, nocks, a different peep, blah, blah..we hit a grand. Guess I have another set of left over accessories to throw on the work bench. I must say though, she earned her own as she has always taken hand me downs…

What accessories are on the work bench

I have a G5 sight of some sort new, a Cobra lighted fiber obtic sight, 3-4 whisker biskets, a few older prong style rests, 1/2 dozen carbons 28″ long new, couple different quivers(kuikee), etc. I cant honestly tell you the models right now as my mind is shot from playing estimator all day but I can always figure it out if you are interested Life. I am not attached to any of it but can say some is brand new and a few are spendy but have had their abuse as well, PM me if your desperate for anything in particular.

I have brand new accessories on a 4yr old bow so I just got talked into shootin the Reezen tonight so I am sure I’ll have an extra Outback on the bench as well. Cant wait to shoot a new bow with my new 7 pin Spot Hogg though. I have got to stop spending!!

I agreed to at least try a Bowtech also, good bows along with Hoyt but I have a comfort feeling with Mathews that is hard to get rid of. Cant wait, I’ll post my opinion of the 6.5 and 7″ Reezen soon.

Well, I broke down and purchased a Reezen 7.0. I shot the 6.5 also but probably not enough to verifiably notice the difference. I figured I was using it 90% for hunting so I would sacrifice the little bit of speed for a little bit more forgiveness. I am shooting a 350 maxima with 100gr heads totaling 367gr and still managed 300fps so I am happy. I have only got to shoot it a little bit but am shooting extremely well with it already. Smooth draw understanding that it is still a speed bow, and quiet. I did not plan to buy a bow this year unless there was a very noticable difference from previous Mathews and I can honestly say there is. I guess you can say they put a little kick back into their bows but its a good thing this time. Dont ask me what I am going to do with 7 pins now…Maybe set a few up just for the target range, thinking maybe a 100yd pin

Congratulations Justin! Sounds like you did your homework and found the right bow for you! May I ask what you upgraded from? I have a Drenalin right now and was just wondering how it would compare to a Reezin. I’m too chicken to go shoot one for fear of what might happen to my wallet…

I had an Outback that was 4 yrs old. I shot the Switchback many times and also tried out the Drenalin and DXT when they came out but there was always only a slight difference or improvement in each model such as, XT smoother, drenalin smoother and lighter, DXT small and compact, etc, but they were all still very similar in style. I also bought a Ranger boat 2 yrs ago that made me slow down a bit, haha. Finally, by this yr I had decided that it was time to get back on the technology side again. Over 5 yrs time they have added enough stuff that it was time. New lighter limbs and pockets, which you have, but also I put 50 fps and more kinetic energy on my shot which I really wanted now that I elk hunt and such. I am still testing but I am probably going to have a flat 0-30yd pin, then go up from there and need to become elk confident at 60-80 yds.
For a person that never wishes to shoot beyond 30 yds out of a treestand I would say one probably cant beat an XT or Drenalin. They will never get any smoother than those bows. For someone who may want distance, extra kinetic energy for light weight shooters, etc. this bow will produce many advantages. I can definitely tell the difference trying to pull arrows from the target! I know the target guys are raving about them also. The consistency of this bow far outways my Outback as I am already shooting tighter groups at 20 yds but…I have also noticed the unforgiveness if you flinch as there much less time for forgiveness. Its kinda like a .270 vs. .300 ultramag to me. Both great calibers but to each there own.

Thanks Justin for the recap, it was very good! Some guys swap out their bow every year or every 2 years. For me, I can’t master my bow that fast because I don’t shoot as much as I should. I went from a Legacy to a Drenalin (4 years in between) and like you, it was a big enough difference at the time. I’m going to most likely stay with my Drenalin for probably two more years. Then I’ll revaluate once again…

I absolutely love my Outback…never missed or wounded what I’ve shot at (knock on wood)! I’m happy so I think I’ll stay with it – although I would LOVE to upgrade if I had the $$$ just to feel the difference!
It’s great to get all of this useful information from experienced hunters – THANK YOU!

If and I’m saying IF I switched today and upgraded, I would be going with a S2

For many of the reasons posted above. To ME it is the smoothest, most forgiving, feels good, yet with great speed. It was the first bow I shot since I got my Legacy that I liked better then my Legacy.

IF I switched today I’d shoot the Rytera Alien X. Or the Drenlin LD

There are a lot of people saying some pretty nice things about the Rytera Alien. I had never heard about it until a few days ago but have seen nothing but good about it. Because I was switching to a speed bow I wanted to stay with a single cam as I know how to tune them, etc. I have been away from the double cam long enough to not know much about them.
