other than the biscuit (which IMO doesn’t provide consistent shots) which shoot through rest are you guys using?
I’m eyeing up the Hostage rest by Octane…any user reports? I like the fact the the vanes don’t touch anything.
Thanks!

Drop away guy here. Currently shooting the Trophy Taker Shakey hunter, but if I had to buy another, I would go with Schaffers Drop away Rest in Lost Camo.
I realize this doesn’t answer your question on a shoot thru rest, but I considered putting one on my bow and opted for the Ripcord drop away instead. I’ve been nothing but happy with it ever since.
Guess I don’t understand the problem with a “biscuit” I did replace the insert in mine this year as it looked a bit tattered after 3 plus years. Both of my boys and I use them and are all very accurate (and extremely consistent) I guess I feel it is a matter of personal preference with the important factors being draw point, arm angle etc.
The biggest problem with a Bisquit IMHO is that say you are out and it is snowing or raining and it gets on your rest and then it drops in temp below freezing? To me it seems that if your site gets moisture and then freezes, your fletchings will not pass through correctly. Not to mention the havock it would seem to reap on your fletchings. I have personally never had one, but from the outside looking in, those appear to be the downfalls IMHO
As far as the rest of this post goes I agree with everyone else on the drop away. Easier to tune as well.
I just got done watching some slow motion videos on youtube. I think I’ll be switching to a drop away soon.
Just go to youtube and search for arrow rests.
I was shooting a shoot through but am switching to a Cobra Double Diamond drop away. I got a deal on it so we’ll see how good of a deal it is/was. I looked at spending the $125 on the QDA but heard comments about the blazer vanes not clearing the top bar. Otherwise I will look into the QDA during the off-season. The features look great.
i shot a WB for 2 years, ill never shoot one again, they make to much noise, come in to contact with your whole arrow and as the others said in cold weather they are even louder, i cant believe that they still even make rests like that with the new drop aways that are out.
I have used a hostage pro for about a years now, and the brisels on the right side have sum wear on them but do not effect the aroow to much. If I could do it over I would buy a drop away.
I use a whisker biscut and maybe they only work for me but i think it works great. I never have problems with them and they work better for hunting.
Welcome to In-Depth Outdoors Cody!!!
I have also used a whisker biscut for a few years now and have had no problems with it, I like it alot.
I have wisker bisquet on both on my mathews bows and i have no problemes with them. i get very good groups. i cant complain one bit about them.

DON’T buy the Hostage!!! I just sold two of the Hostage Pros. Some people say they are ok but most have problems with the brushes wearing out right away. I had my bow shooting bullet holes through paper and one of the brushes wore out in one day. I did a bunch of research and ended up buying a BoDoodle Game Dropper. Not a capture rest but it’s a drop away without the string.
Thanks!
There is no problem with bringing an old post back to life if you have a question or input on it!
The bisquit is all i have shot the last three years and havent had any problems. Maybe I just dont know what i am missing when it comes to the new rests out there.
I shoot the Ripcord rest myself. It is the best of both worlds, total containment AND drop away.
I use this feature for hunting. After you knock your arrow you can flip the arm up into the launch position and wait for your time to shoot. You can flip it upside down and your arrow won’t come off. I have no issues with fletching clearance either, 325 fps with Blazer vanes and it clears every time.

It’s that time to buy a new rest, so I will be heading to Schaffers in the next week or so to put on a new Schaffers MAT -1 GEN II drop away rest in Lost Camo on and get tuned up with their industry leading 3,000 frame per second tuning camera.
