Great deer! I sure do respect guys who put the hammer down on late season deer. I just got the itch again and after checking cams I remember how difficult it can be! Congrats!

Nice work!!! What was your setup like this morning? Food? Travel corridor? What was he doing? Searching? Chasing young does?

I only ask cause I plan on starting to late season hunt next week and had pretty much banked on only hunting a few evenings over food. Mornings work out better so if I hear of some success that I can turn into a plan on my end, I would be all for morning hunts.

I was Hunting a park permit hunt. I did a lot of research and the zone I was given had good traffic but I found one small swamp area and the deer were working around that and using the wind to navigate I found 30 beds in a 80yd area. I was fortunate enough to have a easy trail to come in on the high side with a south wind on Sat AM with 12 other Hunters going out I decided to get in the stand at 530 before the other Hunters go out and get set up. it worked perfectly the buck came in at 630 and bedded down at 25 yds however he was under some thick brush and downed trees I had no shot. I let several does go by and finally at 815 he moved over just a few feet and left me an opening to get a good kill shot on him. only went 20 yds and crashed. it’s been a long sometimes frustrating year but a lot of very enjoyable moments in the stand enjoying the wildlife and finally got the opportunity to fill my buck tag with a good buck.
