The original post was on VR glasses with a video showing the application of using the VR glasses with forward facing sonar for ice fishing. Then remote control panning of some sort would be beneficial.

Yep, the remote camera panners might be a good start.

I hear ya. It would definitely make sense. Think it would be fairly easy for someone to manufacture once those glasses become more relavent.

The lighter these headsets get the more you will see people using them. I always have sunglasses on. I could see myself using one once they are the same size and weight.

    To each their own.

I’ll never own one. Give me a rod, a beer, and nature, perhaps not in that order

I do see one advantage. These glasses could help multitask. Like I could attend meetings while I am fishing.

After trying my son’s VR last night I can say I would not want to fish with one until they become lighter and less glitchy. The thing made me feel sick and I am sure waves wouldn’t help.

Good idea! Unrelated, but when schools were shutdown during covid they did the virtual learning and my buddy had a student who was ice fishing on vermilion and caught a 28 inch walleye during class and another who was running a dozer at his families business.

My neighbors kids have a vr head set, I tried some game on it not long ago and I felt immediately ill and my eyes couldn’t take it.

I have to admit, before seeing the video I thought this was the dumbest idea and I would laugh at anyone I seen on the water/ice using them.

After watching the video it is quite clear the advantage of using VR along with FFS for ice fishing. The glasses used in this video were more compact then the few that I accidently came across. Being a portable kind of guy – Keep the glasses compact, give me a remote panner and I can see myself using this technology for ice fishing.

And yes, seems like a blind guy when using it in the video. It may not be safe to use in the boat.

I know some guys that believe side scan, surround scan, down scan, and all HD sonar is not right. With this new tech of the glasses and the tech that will come, will fishing even resemble what we used to do? Is it ethical? Just questions. Each angler will have to answer for themselves.
