Got my camera maybe six months ago on ebay. After one of my first trips, the camera showed very strange artefacts on the right side of the screen and one bright spot in the middle but it was still working fine so I didn’t care. I did open it up though, there was nothing to be done. A couple of days ago the camera got a blue screen while I was fishing and I turned it off, took it back to the cabin and opened it up, reconnected the lcd display and it worked again. Back on the lake it died again shortly after, giving me the blue screen again. The red battery indicator and menus could still be selected. Opened it up again but this time it won’t work and the screen gives me a strange electronic sound. I’m pretty damn sure it’s the lcd display itself and not the electronic board or the camera or battery. I googled this a bit and read about a faulty diode that they’d made but that was the first batches. I got my camera NOW and like I say it’s been working just fine since day one except for those lcd screen artefacts. I suspect the camera could have gotten moist because I’m using it inside the tent with my buddy heater. I e-mailed their customer service asking if they might point me in the direction of a replacement lcd but they weren’t of much help. I wasn’t expecting anything either since I bought my camera on ebay.
I’m looking to buy an lcd replacement and what I’ve seen so far on ebay does look like the same exact 3.5″ lcd with the same connector.
Does anyone know if I need an exact type of screen or if these generic replacements are the same? The connector looks exactly the same length and size and shape except for the little tiny extra cable you see on the right side. The aqua vu one doesn’t have that. I’m going to order one of these because I don’t want to wait but if anyone can link the exact screen I need or shed some light on this I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
