Seen a few guys using them. I like the spill proof aspect and the insulation that helps water from freezing..

I use one that has a twist on cover, maybe 2 gallons. Works well as long as the cover doesn’t freeze on.

Short trips when I’m jigging mostly but will dead stick for last hour for crappies I have used a large size Gatorade bottle. Works fine for crappie minnows or fat heads for a few hours. Around Winnipeg they sell minnows at some gas stations in 2 liter coke bottles. Otherwise I use a Coleman water jug for longer trips but I’m usually have heat at some point to keep from freezing a lot.

I use a coffee thermos when on trips in with my snowmobile. I’ll refresh the water once in a while with lake water as needed. I’ll put ten sucker minnows when out for lake trout or a small scoop of fat heads in it for other trips.

I do. A light coating of Vaseline works well on the threads to keep them from freezing.

Best thing I’ve used. Very sturdy handles. No thread to freeze. Coat with vaseline for the cover. Fits snug into a 5-gal pail.

I use the same one as Backwaterice. Its roughly 7 inch diameter and can fit in a hole to get more water if I need it. Been using it for 8 years I bet.

I use a super small cooler I think like 10 x 8 x 8 it works great for keeping minnows even a scoop or two fit in there the lid can get sticky but never froze shut for me yet.
