Anyone still grinding it out?

Awful slow in the deer hunting forum. Is it because everyone is in a tree grinding it out the last couple weeks or has everyone packed it in for the year?

Myself, I am happy the guns are put away and I can get the bow back out this weekend. I rifle hunt, but not a huge fan of it, I do enjoy muzzy hunting, but nothing makes me happier than chasing them with the bow. I’ll be in the tree again Saturday morning at the farm. Weather looks to be favorable and I already have the stand picked out for that morning. After the morning hunt I will pull trail cams and make a game plan for the afternoon hunt. Hoping to have a close encounter with the new big boy that showed up at the end of rifle season.

Good luck if anyone is still chasing them.

I might have a sit or 2 left.. but the fuel in the tank is getting low… The late season just isn’t shaping up worth a crap out here in SD. We haven’t got any measurable snow yet this year and the temps have be really mild.. couple that with all the pressure through the year and gun season.. the deer have all the access to food on the ground yet and no snow or cold to make them move during the daylight. The cameras are however catching a ton of activity after dark right now on the food sources.
Only downed 3 deer so far this year and have a pocket full of tags left.. but Since my doe numbers are way down, and only 1 sighting of a fawn this year.. I think I might let them just put the feed on my food plots undisturbed to get ready for winter.

I packed it in on Sept. 16th at 8:30am…With a new baby at home, my priorities shifted and got it done quickly.

I still have the equipment out and I’m thinking about one more day before it closes, but who knows if that’ll happen. As it sits, I’m batting 1,000, do I really wanna chance it?

Still grinding away in WI. I’m hunting a new spot the remaining of the season. We have a ton of snow up here and the deer are crossing the road to hit the corn. I have until January 7th to get it done.

I hear you on this point loud and clear, but each time I think about it I remember that once I pack it in I have to wait until the middle of September NEXT YEAR before I can do it again. That keeps me going.

Haven’t even started here hardly. Going late muzzleloader here and that starts Monday. Late season and standing corn brings the big boys out. We get till the tenth of January. Got a really nice one with a landowner 1st gun season. Hope to get one bigger.

Emptied all of the hunting stuff out of the truck last week and put the ice fishing stuff in. Not a good season for me. Never made it out bow hunting. Never got my fall plots planted. Passed on some good bucks during the rifle and muzzy season but nothing that got me so excited that I even pulled the gun up. Like they say, always next year.

I will be back at it tomorrow afternoon now that I’m back from a work trip to Florida. Right before I left the deer were hammering the cut corn so I’m anxious to get in and pull cards before I climb into stand!

I told myself after last weekend I was done but I will be out a few more times before the season ends. Sounds like the farm I hunt is now included in the cwd hunt now. They asked if I wanted to come down in January for it.

I sat last night with zero sightings. Hoping this cold weather will make them eat during day light. Going the farm the day after Christmas for a 3 day last run at the farm. Going to be darn cold, but I have 4 acres of standing corn with a stand on 3 major trails leading to it. That has to be the ticket, right?

I put a hole in a buck with an arrow back in October and unfortunately didn’t recover him. I believe the shot went through the backstraps and it sounds like after talking to neighbors he is still alive. Been out a few times since but that really shattered my confidence. Got winded by a Doe last weekend. Seen a lot of deer this year but I guys its just not my year. Oh well, still had fun.

I am in the goose blind at home this morning, but hope to be in the tree tonight. A lot more deer movement at home lately, but almost all of it is night movement.

I was at it until Dec. 28.filled my Iowa late season Muzzy tag with a nice 8 point. Really glad I didnt have to sit out this weekend…BRUTAL. It was -10 wind chill when I shot my buck, but that is nothing compared to the weather we have now.
