My relative who is going to be buying a permanent icehouse and most likely looking at a Yetti just heard about Legend icehouses.

    Anyone know anything about them?

    I’ve never heard of them.

My sister in law and her husband looked at them before they bought there yetti. They said fit and finish was very good but did not find a layout they liked. They wanted now so they found a yetti they liked

Looks like they are made in Brainerd.

Paper today said they shut down yesterday, multiple positive covid tests. Didn’t say for how long.

    Update:

Thanks for all of the help. We went and spoke with the owner, Dan, who was very nice.

The fit and quality is very good as stated above and the R-Value is great, better than any other icehouse I’ve seen except perhaps Core.

We were able to find a layout we liked and we were also able to add a hole in the V where the bathroom would be ( Yetti could not do because a crossmember is there ), this is nice because you can put a big fat sucker minnow up there and he hopefully will be far enough to not tangle the other lines.

Another thing that was added that Yetti couldn’t do was add a spearing hole in the back with 2 regular holes in the door.

We were also able to add a custom board to the back fold-up benches so that the back benches would be flat like a bed.

These are really well thought out icehouses and have a lot of small nice features that other shacks don’t have and they are basically 100% customizable.

It does uses a galvanized hitch set up because the owner said that that is where most aluminum trailers break because the aluminum just can’t handle it. Other than that everything else is aluminum.

The only thing is that they are a smaller company and because of that the shack wont’ be ready until the beginning of the next year so we will miss a month or two of fishing but in the long run I think it will be worth it.

After looking at new Yetti’s it appears that they have finally gone the commercial route and used the name but lowered the interior quality to maximize profits.

This shack just seems to give more bang for your buck and is actually a bit cheaper than a comparable Yetti.

That was Glacier Ice Houses, not Legend. Legend is a very small shop that I think only does custom builds.

Please keep us informed how this goes. I will be in the market for a wheelhouse next spring. I refuse to pay 58000 for the yetti I want.

Well, my relative ended up getting a 8×17 Legend.

As I wrote earlier really impressed by the company, most of their manufacturing inhouse, their customizations, and their small attention to details.

His is in the $36k area.

He was really looking at the CORE to gain an extra week or 2 at the beginning of the ice season but I think the comfort and size of this will be much better in the long run.

What’s also really nice is that this uses a composite roof and floor the same panels that CORE uses on all of their walls. I think this is great and similar to how Yetti uses a 1 piece fiberglass roof. Not that rubber roofs or other roofs have tons of issues but they can.

The R value on this icehouse seems phenomenal so it should stay warmer longer for cheaper which is important for when you’re out there for a few days.

My friend’s Ice Castle heater kicks on and off all of the time and it’s sort of loud and annoying.

This house should be ready for pickup mid January 2021.
