Researching repowering from 2strk to 4strk on 17 ft Lund Angler. Suzuki appears to be lightest four stroke which might be a consideration on this boat with 9.9 kicker. Current 1999 Evenrude oil injected works fine. Probably will stay with it due to not worth a lot in trade but would go new if could make the right deal. Appreciate opinions on Suzuki or alternatives.

IMO Suzuki is the best outboard out there. weight was the main reason I put one on my boat as well, so much lighter than the other motors is its class. my main motor is actually quieter than my old Honda kicker that is hanging next to it. I couldn’t ask for a better motor, I think mine is a 2004 140.

Wish I could add to this but both of my zukes are 2-strokes from 1998 so not comparable other than they are Suzuki’s and both still run perfect.

I run a 2007 Suzuki df90 on my alumacraft and have been very happy with it.

Have a 2006 Suzi 60 4stroke and it’s been a dream. Quiet, reliable, fuel efficient.

Run your ‘rude until it blows and then repower with the Suzuki. You won’t believe the difference.

I have a 2013 DF90A on my Alumacraft Competitor 185 Tiller. I chose it because of its light weight and compact design. It has been a great motor. It is very quiet and I have been totally impressed with everything about it.

I know you asked about 90, but one thing is consistent across the entire Suzuki line is quiet, fuel effifient, rock solid motors. I have a 150 and it is amazing how smooth, quiet, and fuel efficient it is.
You will be amazed how quiet the 90 is after coming from that 2 stroke. I went from a 90 evinrude on my competitor to a 150 Suzuki on my tournament sport and it’s night and day difference.

My dad has a 140 on his 175 alumacraft (full windshield navigator, 2012). Would agree with everything said. It’s quiet, you could have a conversation without yelling at cruising speed (I can’t say that with my 01 merc 4stroke 90). I’ve literally had him sneak up on me when we are both out in our boats it’s that quiet. Power, plenty of it, id swear if you gave her the berries hard enough you could launch the boat out of the water.

Aside from fluid changes and winterizing he has not had to do anything in 4 years, but he doesn’t put very many hours on it either.

Happy to hear this as I am buying a 2015 115 Suzuki SS next week. I don’t have any experience with the Suzukis. I had a Yamaha 4 stroke that I love and an etec that I hated!!

    cheers

Not sure about a 90 hp but I have a 70 and like it . The only issue I have is with the troll button/mode . When I bought the motor I was under the impression that when I went to troll mode it would reduce rpms below idle setting the same as my yamaha . Turns out the troll mode increases the minimum rpms .Also the break in routine according to the manual was long and drawn out , dealer said was not necessary. I did follow it!
