Long story but fell off a ladder last week and broke a rib along with a few other injuries. So far I can’t even lay down in a bed, been sleeping in a chair. Anything that requires core (stomach)muscles results in serious pain.

Just wondering how long before it gets better. Haven’t gotten a clear timeframe from the doctors. Kinda a crappy deal, especially for me fall is super busy

Yes. One of the most painful/uncomfortable injuries I’ve had. Hurts just to breathe. It will start to get better over the next few days but will linger for a bit. The real crappy part is there is virtually nothing that can be done for it other than time. Good luck, take it easy and go slow.

I broke 4 ribs on left side when I cut behind the net playing a beer league hockey game & lost an edge. wasn’t wearing ay shoulder pads.. Hurts like hell for a couple weeks for sure.. When I went in to the Doc there wasn’t much they could do. Some pain pills & lots of rest. Ribs are probably the worst to break IMHO.. Coughing, sneezing, sleeping, turning, it all hurts. Sorry to hear & hope you feel better soon.

Get a good chair to sit / sleep in and hope you don’t catch a cold. Sneezing and coughing sucks.

Don’t get the hiccups…..I broke a couple when I was younger and got the hiccups. That was brutal.

    Yes, and it’s not fun.
Take it easy and good luck with the recovery.

Have broke them 2 times once motocross racing, once just screwing aro8nd with friends. It takes about 2 weeks to start feeling a little relief. But coughing or sneezing hurt for awhile

I broke 3 playing football when I was 18. Sleeping in a chair is the best thing I found. Make sure you have a way to get in and out of the chair as just plopping in it or using your core to get out of it is brutal. I didn’t do the painkillers then nor would I now as I’ve never been a fan of how they make me feel.

I would say there was about a 10 day stretch where they felt terrible. After that things got better. It happened to me in week 3 of the season and I came back and played in the playoffs (about 6 weeks later).

Keep a pillow with you and hug it when you have to cough or sneeze…. helps a little bit…. not fun.

Few years ago i Thought I could still dive head first into second base in an all important game of kick ball. Lets just say at 45 there wasnt much grace involved. Turned out i only had bruised ribs and that hurt like he!!

I knew I could count on the good folks of IDO for suggestions and support. It’s been pretty miserable so far. Just hoping to resume hunting in a couple weeks. Thanks everyone

I’ve broke ribs 3 times in my life…all involving mishaps on 2 wheels. They are broken bone(s) and take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. There are no shortcuts in healing. Listen to your body, if it hurts, don’t do it. Find the best position of comfort and let them heal.

Yes a pillow is a must. Mayo gave me one when I had my heart value replaced. Really helps.

See “Fire Alarm Problem “ post. Middle of the night. Top step on a ladder trying to check a blaring smoke alarm on our vaulted ceiling. Was not a good night…
