Not much on Youtube for actual DVR footage. Does anyone have a clip or screenshot they can share?

I’ll see if I can get one to load, I’m loving mine. Hopefully others will chime in here.

Just got the 5 (not the 5+) on Thursday… Used it Friday in the wheel house, using the video out jack I could watch the video on the flat screen TV. I’m satisfied with the purchase. Fun toy in the fish house and a mobile tool when looking for structure/green weeds out hole hopping. I also purchased the wireless remote Marcum camera planner ($70.00),a must have add on if you’re going to use it in a wheelhouse if you are fishing multiple holes…

Great post! I too am curious what the recorded video looks like… does the thin camera wire make it difficult to control turning in deep water? Does the lightweight camera move back & forth at all in any current? What is actual battery life? Can the internal battery ever be replaced?

Is the 5+ worth the extra $$$ compared to the 5?

Both have Video Out which is a great feature – I would say the DVR feature would be great, but maybe more important is Direction, Temperature, Depth and a higher res screen

I’ve never seen it anywhere say the Recon 5+ has a higher res screen over the Recon 5?

It doesn’t implicitly say that, it’s more of a future exclusion from the standard recon. The recon 5+ states the resolution.

Unless it’s an oversight by Rapala

Both the Recon 5 and Recon 5+ have the same monitor, pixels, resolution, Switchable Color & B/W….

They must have just updated the Recon 5 Product Page. It now shows that detail –

    800 x 480 Pixel Hi-Res Color, Switchable Color & B/W

still waiting for owner feedback, i’m curious why Marcum added IR light in addition to LED, all of their cameras in the past only used LED and worked really well…

In my experience, it’s because in certain scenarios even with the snow effect IR is really important. My original Aquaview micro could see things my VS 825 couldn’t in pitch dark

so the ONLY difference is the record capability?

I really like mine but one thing I would like better is if they used the direction of the camera with the arrow like on the LX 9 instead of N,S,E,W. Hell half the time I never know which way I’m facing.

I’d like to add a camera to the arsenal. This seems to fit the bill.
    Easy to use?

Very easy to use! Compact with big time features make this a lot of fun and the best underwater camera I’ve owned.
