I’ll be up sometime Friday morning. I haven’t been out for three weeks so I’ll be starting from scratch trying to track them down.
How’s the north end for fish this time of year?
Fished the sand in the spring and was so cool seeing the vast sand land and always wanted to get the kids to see it since then. Spend a day on the water and fish a lil as well.
I hope to get up Friday or Saturday… Been a few weeks for me also.
I was just there on Saturday for a short period. Waves were a little too big for the wife’s comfort. Motion sickness set in so we got off but not before we caught some nice fish. The biggest was from the first trolling run in 32 FOW.
I would like to be back up there this weekend but there are many events that may be prevent me from spending a day on the water.

For some time now since spring the water has been a lot murkier, more so than the last couple years that I remember. My guess is all the rain these last couple months. So going over that north end sand you don’t really see anything, the water just looks more brown. Anyway last time I was out on the 21st, fishing was good just about anywhere although I wasn’t out trolling the basin. Unfortunately I have just moved to a different place in Coon Rapids so I will be spending the next few weekends unpacking boxes.
Next time I get up there, no more walleye fishing but that won’t stop me from going out for something else.
I was up last weekend and had a ball. Got my biggest eye of the year(28″) in 10′ of water. Almost all my fishing has been in 12′ or less this year.
The big smallies and walleyes seem to be moving back in to the shallower water. Got several from 23-28″ last weekend and some of the big smallies too.
I’ll be heading back up for my last trip of the summer tomorrow night. Shut the place down on Monday and start heading to the hunting grounds for the fall. Perfect timing on the closure
Heading up this afternoon and will try to get out on Saturday.
Ther were a lot of boats out last weekend also.
I’m packing to head up now. Fish until dark tonight and tomorrow all day with my cousins.
Haven’t fished it in 2 years so will give it a shot.
5 eyes so far. 4-15″ and a 25″. Nothing since 10am. Pulling cranks.
You go mojo… Beautiful day to be on the water…while some of us have to work…
We pulled the plug at 12:30 with nothing caught after 10am. Wife’s birthday and figured there would be hell to pay if I wasn’t home when she gets home from work.
I fished 6-9:30 and it was a tad windy for me. Managed to get 2 healthy ones on a flat and missed another 3. Scrapped Lacs for a nearby lake today with the 10-20 South wind.
It was pretty sad that I was the only boat among any of the 7 mile area flats but I guess it was Thursday and more were smarter than I to avoid the waves on the mud.
I hope you guys can get some action in this weekend before the close. Please make sure to support our local businesses in the area.

Well many times I have no choice, that’s where I’ll get my groceries and hardware and any other needs. Always good to go out for a meal when visitors stay for a while.
The rollers can be challenging but depending on what side you were on, there was probably calmer water not too far. Some “intelligence” has reported that walleye and bass can be found shallower now.
Once the closing announcement was made, what few were thinking about going out there was dismissed by most. The bass guys appearing more and more may be around more this weekend. Good that someone shows up to fish the lake.
We were up Thursday evening until Monday. The wind made it very tough to fish and hard to get too far. My plan was to stay shallow anyway, but still wanted to make a couple runs. I didn’t fish near as much as I wanted to because of the wind, but we still managed to get quite a few walleyes ranging from 12″ to 26.5″ and some smallies as well. Biggest smallie was 16″
Kinda of sad packing up yesterday knowing I won’t be back to the lake until next spring, but we had a great year and caught tons of fish. Time to concentrate my efforts on hunting now. Clean up the boat tonight and put her to bed for the winter.
I was very surprised at how few boats were on the lake. The resort was full of people, but I guess no one else wanted to deal with the winds.
Here are a few nice eyes we got over the weekend.
Fished Saturday and Sunday on North End. Either stupid or like fishing way too much, luckily I just am not overly bothered by the waves. Caught maybe 30 walleyes more on Saturday than Sunday, 20 Smallies, 6 over 18 inches (fun) probably could have caught more Walleyes, but got into a school of huge (for me at least) perch running 11-13 inches and took home a nice meal,
sorry no. I wasn’t thinking pictures when I caught the perch, more like ..that’ll make a nice filet
