Anyone fish at night this time of year?

Had to change my trip plan up to Park Rapids to next week. Problem: its going to be flippin’ hot!
Hate the heat when the sun is beating down-Guy I fish with would have a hard time getting up early if the cabin was on fire so that is out. We could fish for crappies or walleyes but how do you know if the lake has a night bite? (i know in the winter water clarity has NOTHING to do with if the lake has a night bite-summer might be different I dunno) We will go in the evening but it would be good to extend into night. Any good advice on avoiding a swarm of bugs?

Walleyes were biting on the river last night, nothing big tho.

I sit the thermacell on the floor by my feet and soak my legs in deet.

Great tip on the cells-those coils work?—How do you find a good night bite? Will be close to Park Rapids and Detroit Lakes. Thanks

Night fishing is the preferred time to fish in the Park Rapids area imho. Those lakes are so clear, daytime bites usually require a good walleye chop and/or overcast clouds. Spend some time on LakeFinder or just take your pick of the big lakes in the area.

Ya I’d definitely fish at night if the water was clear and if the forecast holds true (flippin hot).

Shoot me a message and I can give you some advice on lakes and tactics that have been producing for me. I fish all over by Pelican Rapids and Detroit Lakes. It’s best to get up early, before sunrise, fish till it gets hot, then go have lunch and a beer, take a nap. Then get out and fish 6 to past dark!

Going salmon fishing tonight on Michigan, planning for 7pm to at least midnight.

Should be awesome out. Clear skies, bright moon, calm seas.

Got a nice 25 this morning. What a rush!

Wow great fish B-did’nt know those guys bit after dark. Rj pm sent really appreciate the help. Hard to do the sunrise and sunset thing this time of year without a good nap inbetween. Would rather do my trips in the fall, sunrise 7am sunset 7pm, perfect. This time of year to get loaded up and fishing at first light you have to get up around 3. Anyway lucky enough to able to get out any time of year. Thanks

yeah its the best time for me for fishing walleyes in the summer. i ususally get to the spot at sundown as everyone is leaving because of the mosquitoes. the saugers will go all day but the decent eyes play at night typically. and i typically have it to myself.

Read an article from a guide, over and over he sees a clients PB walleye and 2 red lights in the distance. The red lights are trailer lights from another boat loading.Look at the pic of hnd, fat girl, black background.

I will agree with Bigwerm and RJ, night bite is always good in the area, for me and the lakes I fish in the DL area and north of Park Rapids they tend to go shallow at night. Inside weed edges in 3-7 FOW. I typically start fishing around 6:30 pm and go to 10 pm on weeknights and do very well starting in 27 fow and end in 15 fow. On the weekends I will start around 9:30 and go to midnight (to avoid recreational traffic) trolling cranks in the 3-7 fow range.
