Anyone else get the letter from the Chippewa national Forest

Has anyone else received the letter in regards to the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe reservation restoration act? Giving away nearly 20 mi.² of land to the bureau of Indian affairs then to the Leech lake band of Ojibwe?

I think I received the letter because I objected to the land transfer since it’s currently available for anyone to publicly use it and to not limit it to one specific group of people.

What about the Sioux? They were the ones that had it for thousands of years before the Ojibwe came from the Great Lakes area and pushed them out of Minnesota.

Part of what makes this a great state is the public lands available to us all.

    When will it ever end?

With the casino money and elected officials wanting to appease everyone except the taxpayers it won’t end. The cat is out of the bag, cork is out of the bottle.

If you want to have some say vote early, vote often.

I received it as well, I do own a lease in the Chippewa also. The highlighted 11,000 acres seem to be areas already occupied by tribal members or tribal interests. If you look at the map it’s bordered to existing tribal owned land. I’m not concerned, but I will reassess my lease when it comes up for renewal here in a few years.

Are these land giveaways a veiled attempt by states to cut costs to their budgets? The state no longer has to patrol, or provide money to maintain the land. These lands don’t receive enough tax to cover these costs I wouldn’t think. Just a thought.

You can copy and paste this link to an interactive map that shows all the parcels included in this land giveaway.
