I’ve never caught one like it personally but I have seen one caught with a back/spinal cord deformity on a launch.

I’ve not seen one like that.
Did you keep or release it?

I’ve caught trout that look like that. In them it’s called whirling disease.

It’s not a genetic anomaly. It’s from an injury when it was young. Perfectly fine to eat.

Seen a pike like that last year on a lake with my underwater camera. Looked like a hunchback.

Yes caught walleye and sauger like that. Don’t have a picture handy, but I caught a 38″ channel like that when fishing with Brad durick, was a heavy one too.

Funny how them fish can deal with adversity.
    Seen fish with missing jaws.
Bass with a steel leader coming out its a””.
    Wounds like a knife fight.

Tough buggers… like that fathead minnow swimming with a hook through the brains 😄

We used to get a lot on the Wolf River. I read a biologist report that it was due to sudden temperature changes when the eggs are at a certain stage of development. Haven’t seen one in a couple years

I have seen a few of those,it usually happens when you catch the same little sob fifty times and you,ah,er,ahem, get frustrated with the little guy and,oh never mind.
( big fat lie anyway )

honestly have seen a few over the years, always thought genetic deformity, prop strike, evil fisherman etc.
I saw a snake once with four broken places in its back, evidently it tried going too fast on its way to wherever snakes go when they are in a hurry.

I’ve caught 2 like it on Pool 4. Both saugers around 14-15″ that had zero issues hitting a crank at 3mph.

He clearly didn’t get the memo that we’re trying to flatten a curve currently…
