Usually like to burn spinners in shallow weeds but I might want to try swimjigs this year. The arm of the spinner makes it hard to work the lure so might want to try something else this year. Anyone do this? What jig, trailer, line, etc. would you reccomend?
    Thanks

I will be giving Magdrafts a try this spring. But usually burning chatterbaits of squarebill cranks over any other reaction technique.

I like a regular unpainted VMC ballhead jig with a Strike King Rage Swimmer or Kietech swimbait on the back. Don’t be afraid of underspins either for a little extra flash.

Braid, I make my own jigs, but Bronarney has good jigs, 3” and 5” Kalin grubs are my go-to for this

Great tips did not think of the underspin-I’ll check out Bronarney, unless you sell—-Thanks

I have a buddy who loves Brovarney jigs. I love my All Terrain jigs personally, although the Brovarney swim jig is a little more weedless than AT swimjigs.

Unless things have changed recently you’ll be better off buying direct.

The GT360 swim baits are pretty good for this. I’ll never admit to fishing for bass, but if I did, the 360’s work well. The pike really like them, too.

I also like to burn rattle traps over the weeds. Bright sunny day, weeds, and a flashy rattle trap will produce some big fish early in the year.

I second the Brovarney Jigs. Dan has these down to a science! Miriad of colors. 40 or 50 lb braid on a fast baitcaster. Use a 5 inch twister tail grub for your trailer with the tail pointed down. My recommendation is to start with a 1/4 oz, maybe a few 3/8. This will get you started. When you feel the “Ting” set hook immediately and start reeling. You are in for a cool trip! Begin with a basic chuck and wind, you will find yourself experimenting from there. These are very weedless. Trust me on the Brovarney Jigs!!! PM me if you would like further insights.

I’ve been fishing Broverney’s for a long long time. Start the year with black/blue and dark trailer and gradually lighten the color as the season progresses to white, off white, or chartreuse white, Sexy Shad, etc.

Ordered 2 online white and black. Price was not too bad, hate paying postage but that was not too bad either.
