I’ve never built one myself but my buddy has one he built. He used a carbine length system with a low-pro block and a clamp on FSB. I’ve never really been keen on one…

This is about as close as I have to one…I mean, before I surrendered it.

I like the idea of a carbine with a longer sight plain. And I prefer iron sights.
Havent decided on carry handle or solid rear aperture yet but either way it will aim the same way. Probably boron nitride BCG.
Looking forward to finishing the build. I mean, for my friend of course.

Check out St. Croix Tactical (SCT) for a NibX BCG. Prices can’t be beat and the company is local. Most don’t even know about them. That’s what’s in the above AR and has been flawless for thousands of rounds. Not to mention how easy they are to clean! They ran a BF sale so everything is sold out, but check back soon or give them a call.

Certain sources that I may or may not have, have had great experiences with the AIM Surplus BCG’s in both nitride and NiB finishes, and for a great value to boot. I’ve always liked the looks of those dissy builds…is this acquaintance planning on going true dissy or carbine gas w/lo pro block?

Dissys are cool if you want that long sight radius with fixed front sight. My 3 uppers all have 15″ rails on them so on the rare occasion I’m shooting open sights, I’ve got that sight radius available with my flip up BUS. The dissy upper Palmetto has on sale right now with the magpul handguard has a nice look to it.

Oh, and the toolcraft BCG for $59 at palmetto is an absolute steal of a deal.
