Anyone bought Group 29 Deep Cycle battery recently?

    Guys,

I have 2 Group 29 deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor. Either one of them is going bad, or my dual bank charger is crapping out on me. One of the batteries is at 100%, while the other is basically dead. The dual bank charger indicator light says both are fine, but one is clearly bad, so I’m assuming it’s the battery. Maybe. Trying to recharge the “bad” one now on a separate charger.

Anyway…I got these at Wal-Mart and in checking there tonight they no longer carry Group 29s. Made a quick call to Costco, and same story. I’ll check some other places, but just figured I’d ask quick to see if anyone else has good recommendation/place for Group 29s – preferably one that opens relatively early so I can swing through in am to get one.

    Thanks for any input.

Less than a month ago I purchased 2 Interstate group 29 deep cycles from Rochester’s Interstate Distribution Center. $116/batt. Bloomington’s Interstate Distribution center was $110.

My last set last 7 years and for the number of hours we utilize our deep cycles, I’m perfectly happy with that length of service.

That’s a good price normally at $141 each.

Just got one at Full Service Battery in Farmington. It was a factory blem because the stickers were incorrect. $60 with a core…not 100% on the brand, but if anyone knows about Lead-acid batteries, there’s only a handful of American producers now and most all are quality. A good 80% of “branded” batteries are re-brands from other manufacturers if they are domestically made.

+1 on the Interstate batteries. Long service life and have 3 on my boat.
