Fished the Hunters Point couples tourney this past weekend. Great time was had by all once again! But the fishing really sucked for us. Fished lead Fri and Sat and didn’t catch a fish over 14″ both days combined. I hear the winner was trolling lead, but can’t confirm that. I am still scratching my head about the lack of a trolling bite for me this year. Still catching fish rigging, but you have to sort through a lot of 10″-12″ fish. Great for the future of the lake – but frustrating as heck right now!

I pulled lead during the tournament Saturday as well. We had a 26″ within 5 minutes of having the lead core out and then just small fish after. Brad Juaire and his wife won the tournament trolling.

Also fished the Hunter’s Couples Tourney. Pulled lead from 11:00 on and had a consistent bite. Only managed a 14.5 and 17 to weigh, lost at least 2 more that would have been weigh fish (nothing big though). Did get a 30″ pike in 34′ of water (thought we finally had a decent walleye). So, the lead bite seems to be picking up. We only pulled lead around the gravel and used smaller profile cranks (salmos, shads, etc).

Might try again this weekend in the open basin with some tail dancers, reef runners, etc.

Good luck if you get up there.

Anyone know why Brad doesn’t post his summer updates anymore? It was nice knowing when the bite was going. He never gave exact areas so you still had to figure things out, but it was great knowing a bite was on.

With that said, I would love to know what James and others involved with IDO think of results of the new site. I love the layout, but I feel like there is far fewer reports. Too many forums maybe? Lost too many people in the change? Maybe I’m wrong?

Pulled lead yesterday afternoon off the edge of the deep gravel for 3 hours. Marked some fish, but never got a bite. Hoping to go to mud today and try it some more.

Just pulled lead for 3 hours and not a touch, went over a lot of fish, changed size, color, and depth often. Just put out a Rapala TD 11 in hot flash color on a board. See how that goes. coffee

Nothing on the board either. Little frustrating as there are a lot of fish out in the basin, I just couldn’t find the right combination today.

We trolled all day Thursday and half day yesterday. Mostly mud and off-the-mud. We didn’t count, but I would estimate we caught 50 on Thursday and 20 yesterday. One 16″ and the rest 10 – 12 inchers. It was weird. We changed up speed, location, lures as much as was reasonable. #4 purpledescent shad rap caught 75% of the fish. I took it off for a while in search of bigger fish but got too bored. I think the big ones were full of the little ones.
