My pond pump worked last year but you had to give it a little jump start with turning the propeller to get it going.. Can’t get it to do anything now..any ideas guys?? It’s a pretty big pump at 2500 GPH. Thanks.

Home depot is just down the road Joe. Unless you could find something built up behind the impeller I personaly wouldn’t want to open it up and take a chance of electrifying the pond.

Can you hear it spin,is the impeller free? It is fairly simple to remove the impeller housing without harming the pump.

if you had to spin it by hand to get it to turn last year the motor is most likely dead. Inspect the electrical connections, its possible one of them is loose.

Give the bearing a shot of spray lube on the shaft end.

Elroy’s electrical service in Inver grove heights. He fixes are blower motors for us. And any other electrical motors. Very reasonable pricing.

The brushes are probably worn down. Tracking down where to find replacement brushes for the pump motor I wouldn’t no where to go. Maybe a call to the manufacturer might point you in the right direction. Those pumps can get rather exspensive to replace.

Try soaking the pump in a bucket of water overnight.

Many of these pumps manufacturers now recommend storing the pumps in water over the winter.

Thanks for the replays guys..yes I can turn the impeller by hand doesn’t seem to be bound up..the motor doesn’t make any noise at all when I plug it in..not even a humming sound so it’s like it’s not getting any power but I have power at the outlet..the motor was in the pond all winter but I shut it off and put a tank heater in the pond to keep it open so the fishys don’t die. I was hoping to fix it right in the pond because it is quit the job to take it completely out of the pond because I have the power cord buried under all the rocks at the bottom of the pond…UGH.

This is going to sound dumb but check the outlet. If it is GFCI it could have tripped. Take the time to double check.
