I’ve never attended it before but there’s an artist I’d REALLY like to see there this year (Zach Bryan) and he’s playing an early show on the west lawn stage.

This event really isn’t my thing, but I’d love to see him play live.

    Is it a fun event?

    Is it a zoo?

    How is parking?

Are you close to the smaller stages? Need chairs? Standing only?

They’re requiring a vaccination card or proof of a negative test to attend…

Yeah I saw that too Sharon, I should be able to sneak out of work for a test prior to the concert

Fake IDs were $40 when I was in high school.

Wonder what the current rate for a vacc card is…

Here you go Beads. Right from the FBI’s website.

What happens if you get caught with a fake vaccine card?

Earlier in 2021, the FBI released a statement about the uptick in the number of fake vaccine cards circulating in the United States. The agency warned people that doing so is a crime.

“By misrepresenting yourself as vaccinated when entering schools, mass transit, workplaces, gyms, or places of worship, you put yourself and others around you at risk of contracting COVID-19. Additionally, the unauthorized use of an official government agency’s seal (such as HHS or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)) is a crime,” read a statement from the FBI.

Fines are also a possibility if caught with a fraudulent vaccination card.

Two people traveling to Hawaii in August face up to one year in prison and up to $5,000 in fines after allegedly falsifying vaccination cards. They were reportedly trying to skirt the island’s 10-day quarantine for unvaccinated people.

Gimruis, less punishable than a fake ID then toast

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Have any of you been to the block party before?

They encourage people to ride their bikes to the event….it would be an 80 mile round-trip ride for me lol

Actually if you are not vaccinated and pre-test 72 hours in advance of your last destination flight to Hawaii… with a negative test you do not need to quarantine. They were trying to skirt a free test also. doah

Perhaps you’re aware but they have had DIY kits for covid to buy at Walgreens and CVS. Do it on the way to concert, bring it right with ya to the “vaccine bouncer”. Easy peasy.

I have a couple extra if u need any. Know a person who works for the company that developed em, we get boxes here and there.

I had a couple roommates years ago in South Mpls that went every year. They had a good time. I do recall parking being an issue. I think it used to be in the summer months instead of September didn’t it? I can remember them always complaining about how freaking hot it was, so maybe it will be more comfortable this time around. I personally never went to it.

The only reason people ride their bikes there is because many of the attendees come from Mpls. Bikes are everywhere there. Could be a long bike ride from Stacy. Maybe you could rent one of those e-scooters!

Heard in recent years the party was getting a lil squirrelly. Everything around here has a peak until it gets hood and is forever changed.

I hope they got it figured out.

I was thinking about parking somewhere a ways away (like at Target or Walmart in a nearby suburb) and taking a Uber there and back? I wouldn’t plan on staying until the end of the shows anyway (which should avoid any Uber rush/shortage)

    Is that a decent plan?

Don’t they have a subsidized train that runs down that way? From what I understand they are “payment optional.”

I’ve never been, but some friends go regularly. More the patchouli-smelling, skinny jeans, glasses with just the frames, quasi cowboy hat with a flat brim, and well oiled beards on men who can’t change a tire type of hipster crowd.

Heard it’s fun, plenty of beers and some weird type of incense smoking is common.

It can be a zoo, but usually not until the main acts later.

Parking sucks. Your Uber idea is a good one, find a rich neighborhood and park there, or like the Home Depot in St. Louis Park.

Not sure on chairs, but I wouldn’t want to lug them around all night anyway.

It’s a pretty good time…I used to live right there so we would attend. It’s gonna be a zoo so be prepared. Personally, I hate the train so I wouldn’t do that. The Uber idea is the best….there is a Home Depot/Target on 35W and Industrial. That would be a good spot to park and Uber.

There is a great little bar called Eli’s on 13th and Hennepin…super old school and a local hangout. Strong drinks, great food. It’ll be busy but worth a stop in since you’ll be walking distance. I think they’re open.

We are are one of the main liquor suppliers there. It’s a good time. Lots of judgment being passed around by folks that have never been and probably never will. Which is not surprising. It’s a good diverse crowd. Which should be expected with the diverse music acts. I know I know some here don’t like that. If you see the Jim Beam/Makers Mark/ Hornitos stand stop by and I will get you a cocktail. Not sure what Target you are thinking of parking at but not a bad idea to Uber in. You may be surprised though parking downtown is pretty wide open these days. Zach Bryan is who I am in looking forward to seeing as well.

If I’m a atheist does that change anything. Or does it make it better if I follow your fairy tale ?
I didn’t even think that was worth mentioning

I don’t believe he’s ever been to Minnesota before, and who knows if he’ll ever return. There’s no way in hell I’m going to miss this rare opportunity.

Went once, around 2013-2015 I think, and saw matchbox 20 and goo goo dolls do their few big hits so that was kinda cool. Overall was fine. Ran into one of my up north deer hunting buddies and his wife there, and of course there’s the usual mixed crowd and plenty of the type bigwerm described above lol. Don’t remember anything being a big hassle or fustercluck really, and I’m not a fan of crowds in general.
