Not from your side of the pond, but I did spend a few years in the UK.
The forum member Tegg is one of you. He’s been over there to visit the relations a couple of times I believe.
When living in the UK, I discovered that in the winter the short daylight (or no daylight) of the northern latitudes bothered me more than the colder winter temperatures do here. The UK is warm in the winter (compared to what I am used to), but most people don’t realize that the UK is at about the same latitude as Hudson Bay. So the daylight in winter is considerably shorter.
I used to go to work at 8:00 and it was completely dark. Sunrise was after 9:00. Then I would get the most beautiful sunsets from my office window in Leicester at about 2:30 in the afternoon. Then back home in the pitch dark at 5:00. Ug.
