Any Tips?

I’m heading to Peppin Friday and Saturday with a few friends. We usually do this trip in the Spring, but since all the hotels were closed, we couldn’t make the trip. Any tips for how to attack the lake in the Summer. I’ve read a few reports and it seems like maybe cranks and leadcore are the way to go?

If anyone can point us in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative. I’m not looking for secret spots, just some techniques to try and maybe what depths you would recommend starting at.

    Thanks.

want to catch fish? get to the landing at 5 a.m. and off the water by 11 or so unless you enjoy boat traffic and the heat. I have been pulling crawlers since mid may and haven’t stopped yet. can’t say its lights out but plenty of action using 2 lines. seems everyone trolls cranks that I see. I’ve been lucky to be able to go mid week since april so can’t speak for weekends but as hot as it is, I can just imagine how many trailers are in the lots on weekends. and 90% are not there to fish.
I pretty much hibernate July-August unless we get a cool spell. Depth is all over for me and its mostly finding areas that hold fish not targeting a specific depth. water is low but we have found them in as shallow as 7′ and as deep as 24′

good luck and let me know how it went

Yeah, I’m definitely not looking forward to the boat traffic, but hopefully we will be able to get away from it some how. Thank you for the information. I’ll try to post some pictures if we get into any.
