Any Rumors of New Equipment

  • #2136066

It is past the 4th so time to start thinking ice fishing. Any rumors floating around about new equipment, especially one man flip over houses?

I bet with ICAST this week you will be seeing lots of stuff soon. I think OTTER is announcing something tomorrow (19th).

I saw Otter Outdoors announced a few new things. The vortex hubs have full doors now and a few accessory options for flip overs.

I was at ICAST last week and there wasn’t really anything new for ice fishing products. Garmin won best product showcase for ice products. Beaver Dam has a new Wonder Bread theme tip up and limited addition 60th anniversary tip up.

This year I plan on buying a lithium battery from Amped Outdoors. Stopped by their booth and could not believe how light the battery’s are.

If you want to get a custom rod made you might be too late if you wait to October and want it for first ice.

I am excited to walk thru Otters new hub and check it out in person.

I’ve got a connection in the biz. He said he’s had his hands on a 10” light flight auger for my 40 volt Strikemaster and I can buy one from him in September. We will see.

I don’t know what strikemaster was thinking not releasing a 10” last year. Here in Manitoba the ion g2 outsold the sm because of the 10. Bad marketing decision.

Probably because they sold so many here they didn’t need to.

Well that’s what a lot of companies do. They released the 8”. Everyone had to have it. Now they can release the 10” and everyone will have to have that now.
Mathews does it all the time with bows.
First the z7 then the z7 extreme. The Halon then the halon 32.
For the guys that need the latest and greatest every year.

I don’t think most people want or need a 10″ auger. Way too slow. In a wheelhouse it makes sense.

I hear this all the time. Are they slower, sure. Unless we are talking 25-30 inches it is not that much slower. I do not drill 50-100 holes a day though.

It’s amazing that the technology has progressed so fast that a battery powered 17lb 10″ auger that cuts 1″/sec is deemed slow. )

Newer St. Croix Skandic ice rods. No real info on them yet, but appears to have a 34″ MH and H casting model listed in the line up. Again all the traditional St. Croix lengths and power line up. Price starting at $75 and up.
