I’m heading up this Thursday for my annual trip. Any recent reports on how they are biting?

We did really well this wekeend in 32′ out from Pine Island with a mix of walleye and sauger. Uv green buckshot was getting our more aggressive chases and strikes.

Been staying steady. I’ve been doing better in the mid 20’s with a more aggressive approach then my buddies who have been fishing deeper.

Getting really sloppy. Been raining all day, pretty heavy at times. Starting to see some flow down the ditches.

Any chance it could shut down because of bad ice in a couple weeks or is it easily going past that?

Went out to the lake after work and there was a couple feet of water flowing down Swift ditch. Not looking good for that access. Lots of flowing water. Still trucks and several house out. Hopefully this warm spell doesn’t last much longer. I suspect the lake ice is good but the access will get eaten away.

The access at Dales is closed until Friday at 7:00 and Adrain’s is open (as of 6:00 PM yesterday).

    Any fishing reports?

My annual trip is booked at Arneson’s starting March 10th. It can’t get here fast enough. Fingers crossed for a few weeks of cold(er) weather to keep the accesses open.

You’ll be fine. Lake is in great shape. Single digits at night, maybe 20 today with no sun, and the run off from the thaw has stopped. Some access points got sloppy but all is good.

Heck there were 10+ semi trailers on the ice at the Warroad River today for a snowmobile race.

Fishing is only going to be getting better.

Had a blast on our trip and our stay at Sportmans. We fished Friday and Saturday and caught 58 fish between 4 guys. Our biggest was 17 inches and the hot lure was a pink slender spoon tipped with a whole minnow. The whole minnow was catching more than just a spoon tipped with a minnow head.

They will be ice fishing up there for awhile. The ice was well over 2 feet thick and they really just lost the snow cover with the recent warm up.

We really enjoy staying at Sportmans Lodge. They are well organized and the guides we had were very helpful. We use to stay at the Wigwam and its amazing how different the 2 are.
