Heading up Wednesday night for 4 days of fishing the river and lake (10/3 thru 10/6). The general info I have found says there has been a decent jigging bite on the south end of the lake in 20ft to 30ft, just wondering if anyone here has been up there recently

September 30, 2024 at 5:44 pm #2291560The guys that I knew that were up last week had the same report as you read. They ran north 2 days before fishing the south end. They had much better fishing south.
September 30, 2024 at 6:02 pm #2291562Thanks guys, I have been watching the NCOR reports as well, that guys is entertaining. Based on the wind forecast we will see how it goes, maybe trailer the boat up to Long Point and launch there rather than take a beating out from the gap with west winds. South winds would be OK out from the gap then Sunday with NNW winds just hang out in the river, lol

Thanks for the info. I will post a report when we get back (report will probably not be posted until 10/8 with 10/7 being a travel day)
October 7, 2024 at 7:45 pm #2292777Got back tonight, we were able to fish the lake or at least out to the gap on Thursday and Friday with good results. Nothing huge but good numbers and quality. Saturday the wind kicked up out of the south so we ended up going to Birchdale with good results, quantity was decent, but the average size was smaller that what we had caught out on the lake.
With the weather change into Sunday, the NOAA site was calling for 12ft waves out from the gap and the wind would be blasting right down the river so we went back to Birchdale. The fish were still in the same spot but it was a very tough bite
Overall, it was another good trip though

Yes, on the south end around the gap, 12ft waves were forecasted on the link below. Im pretty sure nobody went out to confirm the waves though

A couple times a fall we like to pulll the boat out and go over to birchdale. Sounds like things are starting. It’s always fun fishing for a few hours and then having a picnic and letting the little one play on the playground after. Will be hitting it early next week, I’ll report back.

Posts: 58October 11, 2024 at 10:56 am #2293428We were up last weekend as well, and fishing is good out on the lake. We fished from Zipple up to Long point and caught fish anywhere from 24-30′ of water. Jigs and shiners worked best but rainbows held there own. Had to fish the river on Saturday because of the wind and it wasn’t that great for us. We stayed around the wheelers point and 4 mile area.
March 5, 2025 at 2:51 pm #2321940Was up last weekend out on Adrians road 17.6 miles over Pine Island. The fishing had been good but the one day cold snap may have slowed that down. 8 guys in 4 fish houses. Saturday kept 32 eyes/sauger and a 27″ nort. Ate 26 eyes/saugers and the nort at Ballards that night. Kept 30 eyes/sauger on Sunday. Kept a bunch of tullibee each day for one of the guys that smokes them. I shared a house with him and he got the biggest eye at 26″. Most fish caught on the jig rod.
