Anyone been out on Pepin in last couple of days? Had any luck? Lots of bugs still in the water etc.?

Hope to head out there tomorrow, and maybe Sunday, so just wondering what the bite has been like.

    Thanks guys.

I was wondering the same thing. I am going out there tomorrow. I thought about hitting the river at Red Wing as well. I am going to look at the weather and wind direction and then make a decision.

I’m also heading out there, but not till next weekend. I was wondering what the bite was like. Any info would be much appreciated. I’ll post back next week and let you know how I do. Thanks in advance.

Fished the wisconsin side yesterday with the wife and kids wind was blowing in and the walleyes were on the chew. Pulled raps in ten feet biggest was 25 inches 5 more over 20 best day ive had down there in years. speeds form 2.1 to 2.8 also got 5 nice perch and a slime rocket around 30 inches, not many boats by me. tough keeping boat in there but we had a blast.

Cool! Feast or famine for me. Did well on Friday. Tried again this morning before the wind chased me away. Not much luck at all. I was all on the MN side. Guess I shoulda ventured over to the Wis. side to try there. Darn it.

Lots and lots of mayflies hatching. Holy cow. This morning they were thick in the air and in the water.

Fished Pepin on Sunday 7/20 mostly on the WI side. Lots of Mayflies still hatching and many of carcasses on the surface to run down the lines and foul up the baits. Beyond the mayflies we had a fair day with lots of shorts (30+) and several keeper size fish all under 19″. Did not see any Walleye over 20″ all day. Most of the fish were on or near the points and 12′ to 18′ deep. Trolled crankbaits all day.

Might as well reuse my old post…so…same question as last week. Anyone been out on Pepin last day or so? Mayflies still bad? Eyes biting?
