That crestliner named Shiner going up / down river. Testing out some new tstats and coil/wires I threw in at the marina. Burning up some gas more or less. I’ll stop and say hi next time.

Did you have 3-4 people in there at times, light blue and white? I was wondering what was going on as you kept doing some big loops from the no wake to the dam.

No people. Wanted to be upriver in case my mechanical skills failed.

Threw out some worms and suckers for awhile at sunset til 11 or so. One channel. Couple misses. Think I’m sticking to eyes this year on out.

Lost art indeed for me this year. Horrible luck with kitties. Water gods have given me eyes all year, id better stick with what they give and not what I want to catch.

With the flow down and water clearing up, bite has been good. Fish have moved from current seams to hanging just below the lip of shallow,(6 – 8 fow) dropping to 11 or more fow. Snake trolling these spots with cranks has been productive. Walleye, sauger channel cats, smallmouth and sheepies have all come to the net.

Did pretty good in a short amount of time tonight and pulled a few upper-teens eyes off rip rap with a floating rap.

Changing to shallow running cranks has made all the difference for me lately. There are times when you need to be pounding sand to get bit. Now is not that time on pool 2. Pretty nice not worrying about getting hung up on bottom too!

Awesome. Til I stopped to pee on the island and my pull start decided not to recoil. One pull and the cord just laying there. Getting kind of sick of motor probs on the water but this time I was upstream of the launch and just enjoyed the drift back to hidden falls. I’ll get that puppy fixed here and get back out there.

Who stops on the island to pee? Leave her idling and pee off the side. That’s karma for not whizzing over the edge.

Guys running solo in boats that are barely 4 ft wide? I usually just use the bucket but I felt like a stretch anyway.

Yup, out again tonight. Shallow stick baits along shoreline are still bringing walleyes to the boat. Don’t think color matters that much. There seem to be nothing but 17-20inch fish biting right now but action is action so I’ll take it. Gonna grab some #13 floaters and see if that turns the big girls on at all. I’ve been running mostly #11s the last couple weeks.

No motor troubles tonight so I’ll take that as well! Although I did learn that my battery powered bow light floats tonight. Thanks Attwood! Knocked it off the mount when grabbing my net, brought the fish in, released it, see red and green floating downstream. Scoop!

Dang, I’m getting them on #7 floaters and husky-jerks, all in natural/silver-to-black colors. Shows they don’t really have a preference on length, as long as it’s a minnow style bait(although they also haven’t minded a small natural colored flicker shad…).

And I’ve been throwing fire tiger, chartreuse, pink, doesn’t matter. Like I said they don’t seem to care about color right now.

Also forgot to mention, it looks like there was another small hatch. Didn’t really affect things too much, but it got worse the further downstream I went. Only made it down to Watergate.

Yeah I noticed the hatch going on. When has the majority of your eye action been? Mines been almost exclusively after dark.

I have really only been fishing from 730 to 10 PM just because it’s been so hot. So who knows they might be biting earlier I’m just not out there. I caught two before sundown last night, and then one just as I was turning on the navigation lights.

Plan to be out Sunday during the day….hopefully the day bite is ok. I’ll be in the white Lund with half a windshield if anyone is out.

You’ll also be able to identify because I will pee off the side of my boat.

Anyone looking for a seat let me know. Timing is still tbd, though.

I’m a little behind on posts right now, but dragging crawlers on 1/8 jigs in what I assume is the same spots for the sticks is a blast. I haven’t connected on that bite for a while, but when it’s on it’s a ton of fun.

Thanks for the idea. I’m a total novice with live bait, I’ll have to give it a shot. My live bait experience is like… slip bobbers or jig & minnow, the end.

Was nice meeting you down there, Nick! Not much to show for me, got a small crappie, a 25” pike, and lost a walleye, prob 17” at the end
