Any one still ice fishing

I am about the only person who has been on any lakes I’ve gone on recently. It’s been very nice and peaceful. My son , dog and I have had very good luck with aggressive crappies through this past storm.

how thick was the ice? still solid ice?

Ice is 2 ft or more in the chisago area. Just have to pick and choose the shore line your launching from. But I’ve been dragging my otter shack behind my wheeler with no problem

Heading up to the cabin in Outing this weekend and the crappies have been biting well. Hopefully the bite is still on. Not to worried about ice, we had 30″ rock solid ice 2 weeks ago and the temps have dropped below freezing every night since.
My biggest worry is finding bait.

I’ve been only using plastics and jigging due to the lack of bait. And it’s worked well for me. I was sceptical but I tried it and I like not rebaiting constantly

Our lake has the winter kill going on. fish be a floating up the holes.

Oh yeah! Just booked a room at LOTW’s for this weekend for one last pike run!
They’ve been on my mind since my trip was a bust a couple weeks ago.

Is pike open past walleye up there? I know walleye is shut down as of last Saturday

Open year round on LOTW’s.

The best fishing is yet to come. Next week should be some of the best. I’m thinking there will be a lot of winter kill from the ice depth and amount of snow

Still ice fishing? Full size trucks still driving on some lakes in NW Wisconsin. The snow has insulated it well. It was just starting to get to bare ice before this last storm came through. I plan on turkey hunting next week in the morning and ice fishing in the evening. An unusual spring to say the least.

Meat-
For the fish: 3 dozen live sucker minnows, 3 packs of fun dogs, 2 dozen Smelt, 2 dozen alewife, and hopefully at least a dozen of secret bait if bait buddy comes through for me.

For the crew: 16 brats, 20 hot dogs, 10-1/4lb hamburger patties, 10 steaks, 3 lbs bacon, 2 lbs breakfast patties.

Ill be heading out to the Willmar Spicer area, last time out there was 24 plus inches of good ice with about 6-8 inches of frozen slush, and the bite was good!

The best ice fishing is yet to come. But that doesn’t mean many are taking advantage. If you look around the lakes seem to be pretty quiet. I thought I was the lone ranger.

Heading out Saturday for tulibee, figured I’d fill the smoker up again since it already stinks of fish.

we were out yesterday the 18th around hutchinson 16 inches of good ice. With 60’s and 70’s in the forcast and the sun strength it wont last long.

Still driving trucks on Leech. Need extension in some areas!

There haven’t been very many people out near St Cloud. I think folks are simply burned out.

However, the ice is 24″ thick and the landings are in good shape. I think it’ll be foot-traffic-only by middle of next week.

The bluegill/crappie fishing is average. It’ll pick up shortly when some of this runoff reoxygenates the lakes and gives the fish a breath of fresh air.

Just came back from Canada , the muffler on the augur was even with my eyes, when I got through the ice, motor was kissing the ice, I am 6′ 1”.

Yeah I was up for the rainy river 2 weekends ago and we skipped the crowd and ice fished. Did fantastic on big hog eyes on the river, it was 2 ft of ice but lotw was still 2 extensions. Had to start the auger standing in the bed of my truck. Makes it very hard to hole hop.

60 degrees out and I’ll be out on the ice in about an hour!

Nope! I love ice but my secret ponds are almost ice free here in Southern MN. I hope my 12 inch slabs put on some weight.

Hope they were deep ponds. Even the lakes took a beating this year. For the ice thickness and how long it’s been around

What a beautiful day. I bet I ain’t the only one who got sunburnt today on the ice.

Yes- Ice fishing on Tonka today.

Was out on Upper Turtle Lake yesterday in Turtle Lake wi and there was from 26 to 30 inches of ice. Some ice was watery and some was still good hard ice. I went out with 4 wheeler. Landing was still good. Tip up fishing for the May 5th opener??
