Sick of my black Betty 6061s they need to be retired, these look like great replacements but I’ve never seen one in action. Any one use these on a ice rod ?

I’m not a fan of inlines and run only spinning gear, having tried multiple inlines over the years. The president seems like its made better than others, but that comes with heft and balance issues; IMO.

I have quite a few inlines and run them daily, especially for panfish. I’m just looking at replacing 2 black Betty 6061s. I like the trigger on these, I have a couple clam elite something or another with a trigger and like them. So I was looking at the president and the piscifun icx carbon inline. Just looking for real experience reviews

Inlines do not take the spin out of a jig that you drop down-so not sure what the advantage is.

They sure eliminate 95 percent if you line them the right way. Fishing a crystal clean lake the other day I was comparing a spinning to inline in 15 ft of water. The difference on my tungsten jigs were night and day for jig spin. Hard to make that claim when I see those results with my own eyes. That and they are very comfortable on a noodle set up and with the trigger I can get down fast 1 handed

I really like the line guide on the President but will stay with my Piscifun for now.

Gotta have a trigger. I like my black Betty freefall overall but am curious about these. Not a giant fan of the presi spinnings

Just looked at those piscifun inlines and they also have triggers. And they look sweet and price ain’t bad, especially if they’re similar quality to their spinning reels…

I bought 4 off Amazon 2 years ago and got them for half of what they are going for now. It was a end of year and they were not known as well at the time.

I would have said they are great… I have 2 of them. Fished with them maybe 20 half day outings each. Both of them crapped out on me in my last 2 outings. I Have a buddy that bought one last year and he called me to ask what he was doing wrong after he bought one towards the end of the season last year and took it fishing on his last outing. He couldn’t get it to free spool. I mentioned to the guy that was with me when I bought mine (and he bought one as well) that it was odd both of them just stopped free spooling within a couple days. He informed me his did the same and he threw it out after a few trips when it quit working. Not sure if we all got a bad run of them or what, but I would say they are junk. The pascifun seems to be the front runner if you are wanting a trigger and not a 13 fishing.

I’m going to order the piscifun I’ll try 2 of them, I’ll report back.
I do have 2 of the clam elite gravity reels and will say they are great so far.

I’ve never seen one of those. Looks like a fancy fly rod reel.

Bearcat, I got one the of piscifun inlines with the dropper trigger last season, and it has been pretty good. Still prefer my Spooler Elite inlines but the trigger for dropping the lure down is nice.

X2. I have tried several different times and several different models to get on board with the whole inline reel thing. Always end up going back to the old spinning reals. They do offer less line spin. I often put pressure on my line between my thumb and index finger and take out most the twist on spinning reels as well. I bet I’ve bought 7-8 inline reels since they have come out. sold or gave away all of them. the black betty 6061 was the best I tried but it crapped out after a few outings.

all the inline ice reels I’ve seen look like a fly rod reel. That’s what makes them inline.

The Presidents seem extremely heavy and clunky to me.

Line spin is a tricky conversation. How was it put on, type of line, what has the line been used for recently, weight of lure…etc. I put a hair jig down the hole from an inline reel and the jig spun. I put that same jig down the whole from a spinning reel with braid to a small spro swivel to flouro and no spin. The swivels bring their own set of factors, no doubt.

Many ways to bake a cake and some love the inlines, just not for me. To get back to BC’s question on the Pfleuger Pres like I said above, I found it sturdy but heavy and balance issues, for me.

I bought a Pfleuger Presidente INline then found the Picscifun ICX inlines after. I bought two of those and returned the Pfleuger. It was far too heavy and wasnt nearly as smooth as the ICX reels. I absolutely love them. I am sure anyone who buys them will like them provided they are into inline reels. Some people just dont like inlines, but after adding a few of them, they definitely have a place in my rod locker. I dont need anymore but if I did I would definitely buy another ICX.

I’ve tried all the inline reels and go back to the okuma SLV or the old school schooley, they don’t have the trigger but usually fish less than 15’

I have to have a long shank so I can pistol grip it. I’m going to try the piscifun

I don’t use swivels on 2lbs or 3lbs rods running 2 and 3mm jigs. That’s why I like the inline. I typically have 6 or 8 rods with and 2 are inline reels. They have a place and time. Definitely not what I’m running exclusively by any means.
