I went for it. They gave me a higher number then I had in mind for my truck now.

Thanks guys. As long as it treats me like my 16, then I should be good for a long time. Now for a color matched topper and I’ll be happy. Feels good to have a 8ft box again.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22280January 26, 2023 at 9:00 am #2176410Nice looking rig! Is that going to fit in your garage? LOL
I’ve never parked in the garage. Toys go in the garage and vehicles sit out side. But no it wouldn’t fit unless I angled in all 3 stalls. I’ll have to build a bigger lean to for the rig and boat.
January 26, 2023 at 12:13 pm #2176508Patriot blue? looks nice!
I dropped off my topper to be matched just this week, just as I started getting used to the black truck/ brown topper. Got a great deal on the paint job though so went after it.
You mentioned a camper, and a topper. Do you have a rig set up in your garage to lift the topper off? I’m thinking about making one so I can run without it in the summer months.

I made a lift in my last house that took 5 minutes to put on and take off. I’ll do the same, I have to find a topper and have the lady friends shop paint it. Because paint match that I’m seeing is way more expensive then I thought
January 26, 2023 at 12:47 pm #2176523Sweet truck! Let us know your likes and dislikes once you get some miles on it. I don’t really have a huge need for a bigger truck, but I do try and embrace the IDO way and therefore I have been thinking of stepping up to a 2500 like that for my next truck.
NodakkPosts: 516January 26, 2023 at 1:08 pm #2176529That truck will be easy to spot at the boat launches near Chisago! Just kidding, nice rig! Does it have the electronic 4×4 shift or is it on the floor? I looked at the tradesmen while I was buying my 1500 but the dealer only had the 4 on the floor

As little as I use my truck it made much more sense going this route, I was dying for a long box. The short box worked but on trips I looked like the Beverly hillbillies. The dump trailer is hard on the 1500 but that ram I had was a amazing truck. That thing just worked. This truck should be able to handle my personal needs a little better. I will miss my last truck. It gave me 110xxx miles of not easy life with no real issues.

Come on out to Chisago, I love meeting and fishing with new guys. This is electronic 4×4. Being the tradesman 2 it is basically a big horn but minus some electronics in the seats and dash.
January 26, 2023 at 2:50 pm #2176570Sweet truck BC!! I bet you will love it, my next truck will most likely be a 3/4 ton also.

yea thats why you dont do any welding on your frame
February 11, 2023 at 6:15 pm #2180960That camper situation would suck lol. I bought a lite weight palomino rated for a heavy half ton. Pretty sure if my 96 for f150 handled a similar one, this new ram will do fine.
I bought a 5 inch drop hitch for the time being thinking my truck would suit with the boat. That didn’t happen. I need a 8 inch dropAttachments:
February 11, 2023 at 6:18 pm #2180962As b man said. I get 12 to 15mpg and pulling a 24 ft glacier hydraulic house or My 17 ft boat today It didn’t even drop or register like I was pulling anything. As of now my average is 12 to 13, fully loaded or empty.
Coletrain27Posts: 4789February 11, 2023 at 6:31 pm #2180963That ram frame that broke in half has been circulating the Facebook truck groups. There is a couple of them and I guess the guys were welding things on there frames which caused them to fail

For a frame to snap or fold like that, there has to be a incredible amount of weight or like you said, bad work done. That isn’t just from a camper. But damn that would suck
