Any marcum updates this season ?

Does anyone else find it odd that it appears we are going to finish a winter season soon and there is no marcum updates? Certainly there has to be some stuff they’ve learned from their pro staff or regular fishing people that would make it a better unit for us. That’s what we were sold on…that it can be continually improved on. Does anyone know someone on the inside? Or is this winter a lost cause for a software update? I kind of feel like they’ve forgotten about us LX 6-7-9 users already…maybe a little to distracted with the RT9, which has to be a big disappointment for them.

The last time I talked to the tech at marcum about updates. His words he said there’s no need for updates if your unit works fine. Unless it’s something you really need then go for it. I believe that with those words they only make updates because people keep asking for it. I still run 3.01 and I am perfectly happy. Unless something strictly requires me to update I wont be doing anything to it.
But I hope they will make everyone else happy too.

That’s pretty sad because you know there are little things they could add & improve on… The mentioned RT-9 fiasco could have all of their programmers coding fulltime to fix it though…

I’d like to see two vertical graphs with one displaying 8° and the other 20°. Also a zoom on the flasher mode would be nice for those who like the traditional look.

Zoom on flasher would be nice. I have found I like the vertical zoom a lot though too.

I love the two graphs with both 8 and 20 cones! Could watch whole area beneath portable as well as isolate my jig.

An 8/20 degree split screen would be awesome. I use this screen on my humminbird open water units all the time.

This might just be dreaming….but I’d also like to see a jig lock option. pushing a combination of two buttons (maybe up and down) would lock the adjustable zoom onto one target as it moves through the water.

Alex yes it would be killer to have this but I am not sure our units processors would handle it reliably.

Make the flasher bigger. That goofy pretend bezel needs to go.

I think just a simple battery percentage would be awesome. I can read the voltage meter, but..

    I miss that as well.

I think they need to increase the gradation on the sensitivity to allow finer adjustment. Other than that I have been pleased with the performance.

I agree with Bob on the sensitivity as far as allowing finer adjustment. I get real close to where I want and then I push the bottom and then show WAY too much or nothing at all. Just one more “push” would be perfect either way. Having said that I used my LX5 which doesn’t have the “separation” like the LX7 does.

As far as a split screen on the cone angles….wouldn’t a person need two transducers then? That would be trouble.

Even when I use the target adjust it does not help enough. The previous firmware update had good gradiation on the sensitivity but the current firm way too “blocky” on adjustments.

I may be out of the loop- but I picked up a LX-7 this year. Being this year will have some or the most current update on it? Or do I need to download it?

Also- I agree on the sensitivity/target adjust. I drop it down enough to get than nice thin line but its blue and will disappear when i dont move it. put it up one setting and its a pretty thick line. Wish we could adjust that a little more. It’s a little bulky/heavy for hole hopping, but thats ok. the silent read out is awesome.

Here’s a question for all of you… I’m in a fishing league and we have an event this weekend. I was out last weekend looking for gills. Dropped the camera down in 5′ of water to find some dandys sitting in the weeds. Decided to get a few so i dropped the LX-7 down to get a cluster… Couldnt even see me jig on the screen. It was scattered marks so i figured i would be able to catch my jig up and down atleast. Nope. Played with the target adjust, sensitivity as much as i could and oculdnt see my jig. MY buddy’s LX-5 read his jig just fine.

Do i need to adjust the ping rate? What does that do anyways? I dont truly need a the flasher on that weed bed but it’d be nice ofcourse.
