The girl and I went for a boat ride up the rum and ran across this small buck dead on the bank. We pulled up and saw no actual wounds and with the gf spending 10 yrs as a vet tech and being stumped she emailed the pictures to the DNR to see what they would say. Other then the missing patches of hair it looked to be in good shape. Anyone run across anything like this before?

My guess would be car strike. They often make it a ways from the road before expiring.

..x3 The deer was found in the water. Wounded or injured deer sometimes head for water. Over the years when I was still bow hunting, I had 2 deer that I had bad hits on. Both the deer were hit to far back.[Gut Shot] I gave both plenty of time before taking up the trail. Both deer were recovered in a creek. …rrr

My first thought was either wounded from a hunter or hit by a vehicle but it showed no signs on either.

Maybe he lost a fight with another buck. Broken neck, exhaustion…

im liking the hit by car idea, but it looks like maybe another animal tried to get in there for dinner… coyote maybe?
