Any ice left?

Supposed to make a trip 3/17 to Bowstring area for annual trip with the boys. Anybody still getting on the ice? I know warm temps are scheduled right up until Thursday, then cooling down while we are there. Will the ice be fishable? Could we still get on/off safely? Walking only, or ATV?

Please post through the weekend if you can. Thanks in advance.

Yesterday there were still some people driving their trucks out thru Cow Bay. Not I and a lot of others, who parked on shore and rode AtVs out. The ice sheet is still in very good condition, but of course unusually thin for this time of year. I found 18-24″ with no signs of honeycombing. The snow cover is all but gone so travel is at will.

Encourage others to post daily, through the beginning of the week. Our group needs to make a decision, soon.

It is a six hour drive, so appreciate any and all input. bow

    Tim-
I’d be in touch with a resort. They folks at Geiger’s Trail’s End are friendly and could help you. They’ve got access and good fishing within walking distance as well.

Thanks Lundo. I did send Geiger’s an e-mail this morning. Forecast is looking worse each day with the rain. Temps are fine (while we are there), but I’m afraid the ice might be too far gone before we arrive for safe movement. BIG question is to haul ATVs or not. We usually fish Round and Bowstring with the cabin we rent right on Round. Looooong drive to simply sit in the bar.

This rain isn’t doing us any favors! flame

I see the forecast has also changed from a trace of snow to 3″-5″ for tomorrow. Ugh…
