Any body around an area where ice is getting close to thick enough? I heard LOTW is getting close, but anything around the smaller lakes/bays?

Can’t speak for your neck of the woods, but around here we had some small ponds and back bays locked up until late this weekend…three days of 40’s and rain forecast will eliminate any progress and we’ll be staring over. No ice making weather in our ten day forecast…
Time to sit back and coffee …and wait.

I was around brainerd yesterday in the boat. Water temp was 36 with some ice forming in back bays and backwater areas.

Had some friends up around McGregor saying there was nothing around there yet.

Being up in NW MN for the holiday I saw a few smaller lakes and ponds off of the highways that looked like they had skim ice, but it was real hit and miss.

I also saw an article in I believe the Brainerd paper with a picture of a guy in a house on local water around there! Please be safe out there everyone! A fish isn’t worth severe injury, hypothermia, or worse!!

Nothing here in the central part of MN. It was 53 degrees at 8 AM this morning with a steady rain.

I’ll be hooking up the boat this afternoon and will be heading to Bay De Noc. I hear tell the walleye be biting! Stay safe, everyone!

With this wind and the warm temps, a lot of lakes will be breaking ice, not making ice.

We had 3-4 inches of snow last weekend up at my hunting farm near Hinckley. As of Saturday, it was mostly gone. Saw plenty of lakes on the drive up that had some ice and even complete ice cover, wonder how much of that is even left today on any lake with any size. Ground not even close to frozen, I could still stick a shovel right into the ground.

Looks like we’ll finally get a cold snap around 12/7-12/8 that should really lock things up with a quickness and allow the ice season to (finally) hit full throttle. Have to settle for boat episodes of IDO, the St Paul Ice Show and prepping gear until then!

I didn’t schedule any work most of December for hardcore hardwater, now I’m wondering wtf with this weather. Even was contemplating running up to Winnipeg middle of December but they’re currently posting boat pics!!

Would imagine today’s temps and rain have erased the progress being made on 90 percent of bodies of water. Just seen a facebook post today from NWS Twin Cities about the forecast showing some extremely cold air building up over Alaska this weekend and swinging south of the Canada border around the end of the 1st week of December. This blast would certainly bring ice to alot of smaller lakes at least, fingers crossed. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/NWSTwinCities/posts/1343415512358574

I’m up hunting in NW MN. It rained all last night and today. Drove past a few small lakes and appeared to be half iced over at best.
