My 12 year old son REALLY wants a dog. He has wanted a dog for the last 2 years. I remember being his age and that was all I could think about.

Considering a Springer. Does anyone know any good breeders?

I had two Springers from Pine Shadows near Brainerd, great dogs. The Haglin family runs the kennel, wonderful people and a great facility. They also do Saturday training days with a pot luck, lots of fun. Not cheap, dogs are from Field Trial and hunting stock. Highly recommend a visit.

I have had 3 Pine Shadows Springers. I have one by me now. I do not agree with their training techniques and have trained my own. PS has a long waiting list. I called them last March and was told, maybe I could get a dog by winter. I went to St. Cloud and bought a dog from a breeder out by the airport called JWT Heavenly Springers. My brother has one from the same place. He’s by far my best dog and was probably half the price of PS dog.

Rare photo of a young springer not going 90000000 miles an hour. (He was from Rock river kennels out of beaver dam WI, bit of a haul for you)

Lindyrig. I have a litter of Springrs ready to go. I’m not a pro kennel, but I’m a hunter and field trialer. I have solid references from hunters, field trialers, and owners of the pups.
Parents have their health certs. The puppies are eyes OFA Normal.
I have females and one male available. They will be very reasonably priced because I prefer my dogs going to hunting and kid homes.

My springer is from Whiskey River Springer Spaniels out of Cadott, WI. Todd is a really nice guy and our dog has been a great family member and hunter. My father in law has a younger pup out of their kennel too as well as my sister in law.
Todd would probably be able to guide you to a breeder closer to where you live if he is too far away.

Not sure I agree with your comment about their training methods but definitely agree on dog availability and pricing. We lost our last Springer in August(our third over 40 years). We went a different direction last October and acquired a Field Bred English Cocker Spaniel from Junction Gundogs in Gilman, WI (near Eau Claire). He is four years old, retired as a stud dog and hunted well on both grouse and pheasants. A joy in the field, great in the house. They have one male puppy available to take home very soon.

I am looking to get another springer pup in the near future. The breeder I have used in the past is not scheduled to have a litter till spring of 2025. Does anyone know of any good breeders in Minnesota or surrounding states that might have a litter yet this year or early 2025?

I have two springers from Tiffany Springers. https://www.daybreakkennel.com/springers They are brothers from the same litter and are now 10 years old. Very mellow for springers.

Not sure on current litters but we got ours from Coteau Springers out of Monticello. Since the dog was for her and did not plan on hunting him, my wife did the research. I have since found out they have good blood lines our pup was healthy and would recommend him.

Since this got bumped I can confirm I got that Rock River pup as shown above. She’s great, very intelligent. Can already tell she loves to hunt and swim.

As for pups yet this year I’m not sure. I would check with JWT Heavenly Springers though.

I stopped by Rock River Kennels several years ago while driving back from Ripon. Nice folks, impressive dogs and really good facility. They didn’t have an available dog at the time, I ended up buying from Pine Shadows near Brainerd. Give Rock River a call, there web site isn’t always up to date.

Well that happened faster than I thought. Picked up the newest addition to our family today. He is already 15 weeks old. Smaller breeder in centeral MN. Had good bloodlines so we pulled the trigger. WillowBrook Kennels

This is a great thread. Now I know who the really good people on this forum are! Springer owners. This is not any judgement on non springer owners. They may be good people as well!

    Great looking pup John!

I am now in the same boat as OP and starting to look for breeders – I lost my 2nd Springer earlier this year (it was devastating) and have been just letting things settle.

If anyone has any recommendations out West, I am all ears. I am willing to travel as well, if needed, for the right pup.

    Thanks!

The new pup’s AKC registered name is going to be ” Willowbrook’s St. Louie of the Arrowhead”, but will go by Louie.

Do we need to bow when we address St. Louie? jester

    Louie is a good name!
