Haven’t been out in a couple weeks. Decided we are going to sit out tonight all night on the croix by home. Any one been landing any hogs.

June stunk for me, just a couple 10 pound eater sized flatheads. My buddy got a 27 pounder, but nothing real big. Good luck tonight, I’ll be out drowning some baits as well.

No good reports back. We caught a few bigger channel cats but didn’t see any flats. We did have a big fish on at around 1 am but my buddy had a leader fail and broke off at his swivel, so that sucked. Maybe next weekend

Channel cats are going good, Friday night P2 6 fish at 2 AM then by 7:30 out of bait with 35 fish. 14lb biggest with 3 doubles. 2 lines was made for my night fishing, thanks governor. After 3 years of trying, I am 100% chicken breast this time of year and they really eat it. Easier to get than the cut decoy suckers I always used to use. Until the shad get up to eating size (secret cheat code), this is the go to bait for me. Every year several fish over 20 (back to back 20 & 22 last year) right in the metro and unless its a cat tourney, no competition at all at night or during the day. At night there is no tuna boats and very relaxing, no combat fishing with wakes every 5 minutes. Would love to trade notes with anybody chasing these fish.

I ended up with a swing and a miss on a big run on a green sunfish. Heading out tomorrow to give it another shot.

Funny how this could totally be an IDO inside joke and/or a true statement… I’m assuming the latter, tho jester

I would like to get more into catfishing. It seems like a pretty fun and challenging sport, especially big flats.

We will be back out all weekend doing the same thing again. It’s just so relaxing. I will also bring a little heater with. Around 2am last Saturday I realized I was pretty chilly and nothing to do to keep warm

Sorry I couldn’t hook up with you guys. FGD birthday and boat sales had me running all over.

Looks like you had a good time!

Darren that a great video. Is that bite just a certain time of the year or are they always stacked in there by the dam ?

Thanks! Mostly it’s all season, but definitely better in late May/Early June and Late August/ Early September.

    Here’s Day 2

I missed it in the video, but what is bait of choice up there ? That is a trip I may have to try it. It looks relatively quiet for other boats, is that pretty normal?

Choice of bait is in the first video, frogs and cut mooneye I believe.

On the bucket list for sure!

Here’s the final installment of the trip. Yes it was all frogs we used. Late summer, frogs is the bait of choice. In the spring, Goldeye is #1, the river is FULL of them and the main reason the fish flourish up there.

I seen that monster on your YouTube shorts. That’s a beautiful channel cat.
