I am far from a gamer. But my kids asking for a new monitor and keyboard and mouse for the ps5. I am so un knowledge in this category that I have no idea what to look for. Just seeing if any one has any good input when it comes to this.
Whats a good screen size for this, and good keyboard mouse combo ? I’d rather buy this set up 1 time and have it be quality rather then a cheap one we’d have to upgrade

Keyboard and mouse for ps5? That’s a gaming console, not a computer. The ps5 operates with a wireless controller, not a keyboard and mouse. At least that’s how mine works.

Well you were clearly not the guy to answer my question rotflol
The ps5 can be operated by keyboard and mouse. As well as can be set up like a pc and have multiple monitors. He’s trying to beat me at madden 24 and can’t with the regular controller lol

News to me too. I dont game, but first I heard they required or could use a keyboard or mouse. My kids have all moved on to PC based gaming dedicated computers that my oldest has built each of them. Still play all the PS games somehow, not sure how.

You’re showing your age, Gim. tongue Real gamers don’t use controllers anymore.

BC, I sent a message to the boy & I’ll get back to you with what he likes. We got him a 32″ curved monitor last year and his aunt got him a new keyboard & mouse. And the way he games and the racket he makes at times, I’m surprised, but it’s all lasted a year so far. lol

I’m not a gamer either but my sons are. I think a PS5 can double as a PC platform and that’s where a lot of these advanced games are heading. You can do so many things within these “universes” that just a gaming controller isn’t enough, you need a whole keyboard, system, etc.

It’s funny, when I was a kid you went to your friends place and played Nintendo. Maybe you brought one of your games or an extra controller, etc, but that was it. Now, when my boys go to a friend’s house they bring a monitor or small TV, their actual console, controllers, etc. It’s a whole production, and it seems backwards considering the level the technology has gotten to.

REgarding monitors however I would say 30 inch would be a minimum. I really like the samsung curved monitor I have for my laptop I forget the size. My kids have two monitors each. Each of them are about 30 inches. Interestingly enough the one is vertical display not sure why.

I have no input but i get why. Keyboard mouse is a lot easier than controller to be better waytogo

Yeah, this must be the case. My kids are playing PS5 games, but on a PC and do not use controllers at all.
BC I bet your son would like a webcam on there too makes it more fun to talk trash with his buddies. I think I figured out why my kids have one mounted vertically because that is the one with the cam on it.

This is exactly what Mason and I talked about not long ago when his buddy showed up with his ps5 and monitor on my steps. I asked him if he was moving in or something lol, he said nope we’re just going to game for a bit

Thank you buddy I appreciate it.
This stuff is out of my league. But I do know whooping the kids butt in madden is a riot.
I still scratch my head wondering why he wants a monitor or 2 instead of the 80 inch TV downstairs

I mean they dont even need to be together to play each other, but I could see that being fun, but having a webcam would take it up a notch. Hearing my kids laugh their butts off because so and so is a “sweat” is hilarious!

This would probably be the current “best” things but it’s all pretty expensive. Never going to make it to the pros without it though lol

keyboard: Steelseries Apex Pro Mini (I assume since you said monitor he’s at a desk and doesn’t need wireless)

    mouse: Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2

    monitor: Samsung LS32BG852NNXGO

Can see everything at the same time, or less eye movement at least, and monitors generally have less input lag than TVs. Maybe matters for twitchy shooter games but whether somebody is good enough for it to make any difference at all is a whole other matter.

That’s my Xmas thought, he has a nice desk in his room but the ps5 is currently in the basement living room and I was going to set him up with a sweet spot in his own room. I’m going to look in to those things. I don’t know if we need the “best” stuff. But would like to keep quality over a pos

OK that mouse and keyboard are reasonable, monitor is a little spendy for what i was hoping. Any middle of the road monitors. Something decent that I won’t regret and have to upgrade ?

Cheaper monitor is definitely fine for PS5, it’s not has high-res or as fast a frame rate as a real gaming PC.

I also don’t know off the top of my head but looking a little bit at what’s out there either size of these seem like a good deal to me on sale:

I don’t know if this is loading right, take the space out of this https ://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJH22XW6

    Or search “SAMSUNG Odyssey G65B”

Might want to ask what he’s thinking about for a monitor. 32″ is actually pretty big, I have mine set way on corner of desk to actually see the whole thing so maybe he’d prefer a 27″ for the “see it all at one time” reason I posted earlier. The one I have directly in front of me is 27″ and it’s plenty big. And maybe he doesn’t want a curved one, I don’t know, but curved adds some cost.

BC I sent you a few links. That’s what the boy has. and it was a 24″ monitor, not 32.

He tried using one of our extra 55″TV’s and it was just to much to look at at once.

Christ I had an Atari when I was a kid…pacman, frogger, and the guy that jumped over crocks and swung on vines like tarzan. Sucks getting old.

If I would’ve asked my dad if I could have a video game system, he would have fallen over laughing at me. An Atari would’ve been the coolest thing I ever got a chance to lay my hands on.

Apparently. I still use the wireless controller.

Video games have come a long ways since I played Nintendo as a kid, that’s for sure.

The issue is competitive games, mostly shooters, that have crossplay with PC users or just against other console users who “cheat” with adapters that make a keyboard+mouse look like a controller to the system. Aiming with a mouse is far better than a controller so controller users are at a disadvantage.

I’m in your boat, that’s why I had to ask here. If I ask the guy at best buy he will talk way over my head and I’ll leave as lost as I showed up. I use the controller. I actually think the controllers great. But I only play him every once and a while in madden or NHL

BC you are a good dad. Get a big monitor with a fast refresh rate which is good for gaming. No need to spend 700 on one my kids havent. The rest I think you have under control.
