Any comparisons WX2190 vs WX2200?

Anybody out there run both boats and care to give a comparison between the two? I run a WX2190 and just saw the new 2020 WX2200, and now I am smitten. Boat had literally just come off the truck, only been inside for about 1/2 hour. Still cold in the lockers. Sure seems much bigger on the front deck, kinda crazy with the beam being 2″ narrower on the 2200. The front deck looks to be a bit longer, is that where the extra 4″ went. I have been told that the 2200 does better in the rough stuff, but that was from the boat salesman. Looking for rough water handling opinions more than top end. Looking forward to hearing your opinions. thanks in advance. Wow, this is going to be a long winter.

I currently own a 2200 (came from a 2060 and spent countless hours in 2190s)and the ride is significantly better then the 2190 and 2060 hulls of old in my opinion. Myself and a few very well known individuals in the industry I’ve talked to have all confirmed it’s one of the best riding hulls they’ve ever been in. Unlike the 2190 that likes to cut right through the waves the 2200 rides more on top so it does take more throttle control when running in the rough stuff but once you dial it in its a sweet ride when it’s rough.

Well after a little bit of time to cool off, and the CFO setting me straight, I have decided to stick with my 2190. But I would like to tweek it out some more. I have been searching for the internet trying to figure out what size the factory installs on the boat, but can’t find it? Nor on the Warriors. So what size do I need. If you look at how they size them on some of the websites, 1″ width per 1′ of boat, so a 22″ wide trim tab??? What are you guys with the 2190’s and 2200’s using? What is Warrior putting on their boats? Also, are you using a standard trim tab, or a performance trim tab? I am having a bit of an issue with the transom, I bought the boat off the showroom floor and these guys put a large transducer pad back there to mount the side/down imaging transducer. So I have a bit of space issue, unless I take the trans pad off. But I am afraid it has a whole bunch of 5200 behind it. That might open another whole can of worms try to remove it. Thanks for your input.

Phil I went from my 2060 to the new 2200 this past summer. If the CFO says no, make sure you don’t take a ride in one. But I will be down on Erie for sure the first week of May if you want to go out! Factory installed trim tabs are 12” wide and make the boat dig right/ left without any problems. You can get the bow to stay down in 2-3’ and ride right on top at any speed above 25. Just play with the throttle to get the best ride like Justin said.

I took a pic of my tab on the starboard side.

2200 is unreal. There are no comparisons to 2100 or 2190 except they both have steering wheels and both have Yami 300s. But seriously, the boat is unreal in the rough stuff and the trim tabs are the best thing I never thought I’d need, but now can not live with out. When the boat hits, its never a jarring hit no matter the angle, and when you smack a wave its a totally different sound. It sounds very solid and dense, unlike the hollow rattling noise of my other 2 past skeeters. Also no porpoising like every other skeeter I have ever been in.

The only negative about the boat, and I had to really think hard to find one… is I don’t like the Trolling rod locker as well as the past designs. Its a lot harder to get the rods in and out with the black molded plastic piece that they have in there. The rod eyes get caught on the sharp edges even with socks. The open white plastic structure they had on previous models was a better design, in my opinion.

Mille lacs will pound the heck out of the best of boats.. but my wife said this boat “is like riding on a cloud”

I do not have either 2200 or 2190. I have a 2100 that I installed 12X9 Lenco tabs on. Same size Warrior uses. The ride is Amazing! I can only imagine what the ride would be like on the 2200. I will never have a boat without them. Tabs aren’t that difficult to install especially if you are handy. Have fun with your search.

I’d like to hear any thoughts on how much the trim tabs do for the ride vs the new hull?? In other words, would a 2190 with trim tabs be about equivalent to a 2200 w/o them? Lake of the Woods has challenged my 2190 but then I only go there once a year. Is the loss of storage from the 2190 to the 2200 worth the improved ride?

Short answer Dan, is no on a 2190 with tabs being equal to a 2200 without tabs.

Until it is time for a new boat, you will virtually make any boat better with Tabs. The hull design of the 2200 is completely different and a different feeling than any of the previous hulls.

While I am far from a keyboard magician, ultimately, driving one is the only real way to demonstrate the difference. My quick highlights of difference is the following,

    1 Rides on top better
    2 fun & sporty feel
3 far easier to drive in rough water
4 far more forgiving until you get the right speed and trim tab settings
5 drives on plane at much lower speeds than any other hull i have driven to date.
6 Storage is actually a huge improvement overall but different than the past. Huge win overall for the 2200!

I hear there is a Skeeter dealer that offers test rides 12 mos a year, so that might be a viable option to check out! :]

Tx Dean. Very useful answer with the detail needed for an experienced angler to appreciate the difference. Your’re one of the few that could have answered my question. Time for a ride on a windy day!

I have been in a 2100 and got the chance to fish out of the 2200 in some fairly nasty conditions one morning on LOTW. The 2200 did pretty well into the large waves and absorbed them better than other skeeters I have been in and dryer. When we turned to ride in the lows to get the spot a little quicker is when I was most impressed with it. It carved really well and tracked remarkably well. I am guessing if you are in a skeeter now and move up to the 2200 you will be very happy with your choice. Definitely take Dean up on his offer to take a test ride.

Ryan, I will take you up on that offer for a ride. I have the 2190 at the dealership now for winterization and they are going to price me the install on a set of Lenco 9×9 perf tabs. Looked hard at the Powrtran, but decided on the Lenco’s based on the actuator. I like the idea of a joy stick, but that is a big unit to find a spot for on the dash. I am pretty fired up for next year, didn’t get to fish much due to new job, and several personal issue this past season. 1st week of May should be awesome. Right now we have so many friggin walleye in the lake it is crazy. In fact ODNR raised the limit to 6 for the full year, except for Sandusky Bay/River, that will remain at 4.

Ryan, I did get a chance to look the WX2200 over again yesterday, with the wife in tow. How do you like the rod storage with the 2 big rod tubes? I can put somewhere around 15-20 rods and reels(maybe more if worked at it) in my front storage now. Also, something I noticed is that the windshield seems to be lower on the 2200 than on my 2190. Is that something you have noticed? I am 6’1″ and I don’t like looking over the windshield to see. I don’t have that now, even with Airwave suspension seats. I love the rear storage in the 2200 but they downsized the livewell from the 2190. What are thoughts on that? What prop did they set you up with? I am looking forward to a ride with you. Most of the Marinas in our area (Ohio) do not do test rides unless they have a Pro on staff with the boat you are looking to test. That and we have communicated on here for a few years now, and I am looking forward to meeting you.

Phil, I have the 2200, and you might want to consider the 9×12 tabs, instead of the 9×9 if there is room for them. Put them on my 2200 and they are fantastic. Skeeters will come from the factory with 4×12 and they work also. As to windshield height, I am 6’2″+, and the height is more than high enough. You want to see a low windshield, go look at the Ranger 619-622 series. The 2200’s come with a 20″ prop, but after my test ride in one, I opted for the 19″, as it suited my needs better, much better takeoff loaded down, and a little better rpm range. 20″ topped out at 5700 rpm, and 57 mph, in the boat I test rode in. Not actually sure what my boat will do, as I only opened it up one time, and was at 5700 rpm, and 55 mph, and rpms were still going up, but backed off as my wife and dog, like it better in the 35-45 mph range, and quite honestly, so do I. I call my boat the crusher, as it is the most capable big water boat I have ever been in. For the most part when the hull lands when coming off big waves, I would have to describe it as a push, not a jar, if that makes sense. This is the only boat that I have felt totally safe in.

You’ll have no problem getting 15-20 rods in the center rod storage of a 2200, I do it all the time. At 6’ I’m able to just peek over the windshield if I want to and actually prefer that over the taller windshields of the 2060s and 2190s of old as it allows you to read the waves better when you’re running in a big chop.

    Phil,

Are you happy with the Airwave suspension seats?

Which height pedestal did you go with?

    Phil,
While I love my 2200, you already have a fantastic boat in your 2190, and I think it’s newish to boot. Unless you just have the itch for a new boat, I think you would really like the improvement in ride and handling that tabs would give you on your 2190. Shouldn’t be over $1400 installed, or about $800-$900 if you do it yourself. Make sure you get it with the indicator gauge.

arcticm1000, extremely happy with them. Worth every penny. They will be in all my new boats. I got the shortest height pedestal that they had.
Musky Ed, I bought the boat off the lot, and the marina had already put a transducer board on the transom. I have just enough room for the 9×9’s, they do not interfere with my kicker either. The 9×12’s are to big. I sat in the WX2200 and it seemed like the windshield frame was right in my line of sight. I lowered the seat just a touch, and all was good, but with a set of Airwaves I would lose that adjustability and would be back to looking around the frame. I would do some measuring first to see if that would be a problem, it is only about an inch or so. Bet that boat looks wicked with the bubble windshields. I am looking forward to that ride with Ryan in May, but I was told that she is getting her remodel before I get another new boat. I guess I will just have to make do…lol

    Guys
Justin and Ed are spot on. I don’t notice the 2 large rod tubes. I have 16 500LC trolling rods and they fit no problem. The locker may be an inch shallower 2014-18 (never measured) but has a extra lip that swallows up the top of the reel when upside down. I always run socks. Don’t care for individual tubes. Windshield is at same height as my last Skeeter, at least thats how it feels. Smoothmoves are installed. No problems and I am 6’. Livewell seems fine. Haven’t been down to Erie yet with 18- 22-24” eyes lol. I have only had 8 lakers 12-18 lbs in there for the most in the box on a trip. All Green Bay eye fishing was c&r since pickup of new rig. Prop- well talking with a couple pros, I stuck with the 20”. Full gear and 2 people- 5800 and 58 mph. Need more time on rig to see if its worth trying a different prop. The kicker is on the port side. At wot I will run the starboard trim tab down 2 notches. Balances the boat. If 2-3 footers, I will run 3 notches port and 5 notches starboard. Keeps the bow down and rides on top. This is with 4x12s. Phil you won’t lose money on the trim tabs. The little you will, will be in comfort. The 2200 is like no other walleye rig I have been in.

With the long weekend after xmas. And there is open water and manageable weather, we may take a ride down! Or see you in May Phil.

Ryan, If you come down yet this year, and need some more ballast in that boat, let me know. I have plenty of Bandits, DHJ’s, and Reef Runners.
Guys, thanks for the in-depth evaluations of the WX2200. It really appears to be a sweet ride. I am looking forward to riding in one. As far as replacing my WX2190, well I should do the smart thing for a change and what a year or two. I have a feeling that this will be a long, long winter.
